RE: 80TB Plotting and Optimise more efficient way?posted in Mining & Plotting
@Rodrigogmail You can run multiple instances of xplotter concurrently with no problem. What i7 do you have (how many threads does it have)? For each instance, you'll just need to manage the # of threads and amount of RAM used. E.g. if you have 8 threads and 16gb RAM, I'd suggest plotting 3 or 4 drives in parallel, each with 2 threads and 2-4gb of RAM.
For nonces, you need to tell xplotter what nonce to start at, but not the number of nonces to plot:
XPlotter_avx.exe -id 16098533444009108472 -sn 287305992 -n 0 -t 4 -path N:\plots -mem 12GFor each new drive you start, you'll need to adjust the -sn parameter so it starts on the nonce after your last plotted one. If you want to simply fill the entire drive as much as possible, leave the -n parameter as 0.
Something like the below will be your sequence:
Plot1 config = XPlotter_avx.exe -id 16098533444009108472 -sn 0 -n 0 -t 4 -path D:\plots -mem 12G
Plot1 name = 16098533444009108472_0_7629376_7629376plot2 config = XPlotter_avx.exe -id 16098533444009108472 -sn 7629376 -n 0 -t 4 -path E:\plots -mem 12G
Plot 2 name = 16098533444009108472_7629376_15260544_15260544Thus, the -sn for plot 3's config will be (plot2's startNonce + plot2's #ofNonces) = 7629376 + 15260544

RE: What is the best external drive?posted in General Discussion
@ShakeAndBake-xD For externals, I've got mostly Seagate backup plus drives. They're slow, but take up little space and work really well so far. Also a few WD MyBook, which have been performing well and plotted quickly if I remember right.

RE: Are there ways to improve number of Burst gained?posted in Help & Support
@Agabus274 Ya, especially with smaller capacity miners, the variability between day to day can be huge. Just wait it out. Otherwise, adding capacity is really the only way to improve # of Burst gained. :D

@Dtrade16 said in 100TB Burst rig questions:
This is a great community and an interesting project. I've heard people using their CPU to mine as well so I may start off with that first and see how it goes.
I broke my CPU cooler and I'm in the process of getting a new one. As soon as I do, I will get this loner desktop up and running and get a better understanding of everything.Ya, this is a good idea. Get a feel for the different tools used in plotting and see how it goes. From there, you'll be in a much better state for building an actual hdd rig.
Personally, I prefer optimized drives (meaning the stagger is the same size as the plot, increases read speeds). The cpu plotter creates these automatically. The gpu plotter unfortunately doesn't, so you would need to run a second long-running program to optimize them. For this reason alone, I prefer to let my gpus do altcoin mining and I just plot with my i7-5930k.

RE: Difficulti is going to high and to fastposted in Mining & Plotting
@rattle99 Ya probably not. But to be honest, the chances of $5/burst is extremely slim. The supply is simply too high and the coin only has so many uses behind it to drive demand.
I'm sure we'll address fees if needed in the future though.

RE: Relation between deadline and plot sizeposted in Mining & Plotting
@natsaba It's not a direct relationship. Finding deadlines really is "finding".
You could have a 1MB plot size and still find a 10 second deadline. However, having 500TB plot size will increase your chances of finding a 10 second deadline to be much much higher.
Thus it can be said, in Burst mining, higher capacity equals higher "hash rate".

RE: Difficulti is going to high and to fastposted in Mining & Plotting
@rattle99 said in Difficulti is going to high and to fast:
Yes, can we not expect a fork and increase the total number of coins issued?
Also, if in future the price of burst does get higher, people will not want to pay 1BURST as fee everytime.
Changing any of the monetary aspects (such as coin supply) is typically a very bad idea. It changes all the figures for anyone who invested anything in the coin before the change, and usually not for the better.
Supply is very high with burst. I doubt we'll ever see fees less than 1. There's only a handful years left of mining fresh coins anyway. We'll need descent fees to incentivize continued mining.

[Wallet Feature Request] - Transaction historyposted in Development
Transaction history is a little short (imo) in the Transactions view. Can we add this to the dev backlog please?
Requirement:
The Burst wallet software shall support displaying the entire transaction history of the authenticated wallet address within the "Transactions" view.
Comment: Suggested design choices:- Drop-down menu with #of transactions to display (e.g. 50, 100, 200, All)
- Implement "page-selector" control, such that users can "page through" transaction history (e.g. 100 transactions/page)
Criticality: Low (I'm assuming, as this is only UI work)
Priority: Low (I'd like to say medium :D )A dev comment (or similar) to confirm would be tits. Thanks!

RE: See all transactions in local walletposted in Help & Support
@iKnow0 Yes I know, and I use this already. Still, I like the way transaction details are presented in the wallet, and would rather not have to paste in older transactions to see them there.

See all transactions in local walletposted in Help & Support
The transactions view in the local wallet doesn't show many transactions. Is there a way to see see all transactions, or to "page through" the transaction history inside the local wallet?

RE: Not getting paid enoughposted in Help & Support
@BigBear Ya, especially with small amounts, you're going to find widely varying payouts from what the calculator says. Sit on a pool for ~2 weeks, and you should see some consistency. Sit on it for a couple months, and you should see numbers much closer to what the calculator says. If you have more hash power (>20tb), then you see typically see consistency with the calculator in much less time. It's just the way things are with the difficulty right now.

RE: Pumped to do this - got a few questionsposted in System Builds and other hardware stuff.
@sevencardz said in Pumped to do this - got a few questions:
@Seed88_ If your mobo doesn't have USB3.0 then it's a total dinosaur. Go with a new Ryzen 7 1700 and build a system around that.
Get 2 - 4 8TB 7200RPM NAS drives for plotting (avoid Seagate NAS).
Get 2+ 8TB Seagate Expansion externals (note: these use SMR tech).
Get this mobo and have expansion for days: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157757
Use Xplotter to plot with the Ryzen 7.
Plot to the NAS drives, copy to the externals (faster this way due to SMR tech).
Use jminer with the 970 to mine. With a Ryzen cpu, I'd use the 970 to mine some gpu coin, and mine burst with cpu miner like Blago's. Frees up the 970 to do other work since Burst mining is trivial compared to PoW.
-
RE: Pumped to do this - got a few questionsposted in System Builds and other hardware stuff.
@Seed88_ Depends on how fast you wanna go. With cpu plotter (XPlotter), you can plot to multiple hdd's at a time (assigning a few threads and some RAM to each instance). The copy between the drives can take some time by itself, so having multiple will allow you to parallelize the process.

RE: Mining on multiple PCsposted in Mining & Plotting
Hmmm...well I made sure to open 8126 on both machines. Maybe its because they have different connections to my network? Rig#2 is connected via powerline adapter (basically ethernet), while my main machine is connected via wifi. The network name shown on rig#2 is just "Network", while my main machine shows the wifi name I chose. I'm not a networking guy at all lol
-
RE: Mining on multiple PCsposted in Mining & Plotting
@Blago hmmm, same result: rig#2 miner opens but doesn't start. Maybe something blocking in my network?
-
RE: Mining on multiple PCsposted in Mining & Plotting
@rds Nah, same results. Not sure if it will, but I'd like to get it working to see if it does! Besides, it does solve problem of sending (potentially) multiple "best" deadlines to the pool. Not sure if burstcoin.party charges a fee for that or not, but it's worth fixing nonetheless :D
-
RE: Mining on multiple PCsposted in Mining & Plotting
@Blago Does this mean my "rig 1" needs to be running a wallet? I've got the following configs, but the miner won't do anything other than start on "rig 2".
