Hi Burst community,
I'm currently trying to take my first steps in burst mining and there are several things which are pretty unclear for me. So I want to write down some questions where I didn't found a 100% clear or for me understandable answer.
Basics:
1.)
Ok... Burst coins are not mined with cpu or asic power. They can be mined with disk space. But how exactly can we imagine this? From my understanding right now a plotter app is writing complex hashes or codes on the whole disk space that wants to be used.
Then there are these mining pools (wallets?!). I'm not really sure but I think they are here to mine together in a community to come faster to a completely mined block? Or is it just a question of much luck to find a mined block and the community of the pool is here to rise the probability of finding a block? So anyone will most likely find (win?) a block and the earning of the block will be split and divided with all pool members to give a more stable outcome?
I didn't get the overall concept.
And how can we imagine the mining it self. is that somebody tells to search for a specific pattern and everybody searches on his disk. And if somebody finds it, it can return a fitting hash from his disk or somehow?
So more disk space means a bigger chance to find this pattern... would fit.
And faster access times also means faster searching... may also fit?
I know... Very confusing questions but maybe someone can bring it to the point for me :-)
Plots and Disks:
2.)
So plotting means to prepare the disks and fill them with data (hashes?! I don't know, magic?)
Ok then there are these "Nonce". I have no idea what to think of this Nonces...
From my understanding, a nonce can be seen of a block and these blocks are numbered from 0 to ??? ?
So when I want to plot two disks it would make sense to not fill both disks with the same nonce block numbers.
So isn't it that it makes sense to define an offset for every disk that there is no overlap with nonce numbers?
3.)
Is it needed to have continuing nonce numbers?
So Disk 1: 0-99
Disk2: 200000-200099
Is this ok or does it make sense?
or is 0-99 and 100-199 far more better?
If I plot with the gui and in the run a plot in non "Expert Mode" then it seems that a random nonce number offset is used for every disk?
I guess it's not needed to have continuing nonce numbers...
4.)
Maybe I'm to small minded but...
Isn't it that there is no theoretical limit for nonce numbers? O.O
Is it a problem that maybe most of the burst miners use low nonce numbers?
I guess it's working differently.
5.)
A nonce block data depends on the nonce number and the burst address?
So when I use my much faster laptop ( xD yes my notebook is faster) to plot a new usb disk, this shall be possible by using the correct burst address and a non used nonce number range.
6.)
Disk plots are independent from the mining pools?!
Mining pool preperations:
7.)
I have a 1.1TB test on http://pool.burstmining.club/
No idea if this is a promising pool but I can't get another faucet so no chance to change.
I started the mining for a day and looked from time to time to the website. One short time I found my burst address under "Historic Shares" with 1D + 0
I thought yeah it's running. I just did about an euro cent in a day but hey... it's working xD
But then my entry disappeared from the website.
??? It's so hard to wait if you don't know if everything is correctly set up.
8.)
How long does it take that my burst address is shown on the pool website?
9.)
When can I expect the first payout?
Or is it just luck and it could take weeks, months or years xD?
Let's mine:
10.)
How long does it take until the mining app is really mining for my account?
11.)
What happens when I close the mining app for, let's say 10 minutes or a restart?
Is this bad for my "reputation" in the mining pool?
Oh... let's let it be with this xD
I have much more questions but this is enough for today...
I hope somebody has the patience for some answers :-)
thanks
