Open a DOS terminal/console, and run it from there. That way you'll be able to see whatever message it outputs without the window immediately disappearing.

RE: [SOLVED]BRAND NEW ACCOUNT NOT WORKING.. "Problem with account"?posted in Help & Support
@darindarin I was able to send it 5 Burst.
All I can tell from the source is that the call to get the account info for the address returned an error code that wasn't 4 or 5, and so it got an unspecified account error recipient_problem. ???

RE: Check Poloniex Accountsposted in General Discussion
Mine seems okay. I've gotten a bit spooked since Poloniex dropped the trollbox.

RE: hallo family i am new to burst from South Africaposted in Introduce Yourself
@mosesbokaba How many TB are you mining with? Unless you hit a block or are mining with quite a lot of hard drive space, you'll only be paid every 24 hours. But every pool is different. Most (all?) will have a status web page you can visit to see the current balance of the pool, who is owed Burst, past payments, etc. It can take a while to learn how to read these stats, but look for your address.

RE: Burst Blockchain DDL - Updated Regular every 24h (Zipped)posted in Wallet
@haitch Yeah, sorry. When I originally posted the download was extremely slow, and finally quit at 19MB.

@arihan Thanks! My most recent non-corrupted copy was from February.

Just a friendly heads up that the db.zip server seems to be having issues.

The trollbox was occasionally valuable if a coin price was skyrocketing. Usually someone could link to some rationale behind the increase.

RE: PRE ANN Burst Daily Lotto Not Asset but on AEposted in Asset Exchange
@Dillion I think automated transactions are probably the best way to go when it comes to a lottery, like @Lexicon set up. Doing one by hand seems really "old school" to me when we've got AT available. In that case, choosing a "random" number becomes the tricky part.
-
RE: PRE ANN Burst Daily Lotto Not Asset but on AEposted in Asset Exchange
@Dillion In the wallet user interface, correct. But someone could write their own code to generate transactions until they get one whose id matches the number you've publicized as the winner.

@Dillion said in PRE ANN Burst Daily Lotto Not Asset but on AE:
edit Since no one can control their Ask Order ID Number I will draw the numbers before selling tickets this way people can see automatically if they won.
Sure you can control your order id. I could just create transactions with different timestamps or messages until I got one with an id that wins the lottery, and then publish that one.

RE: burstcoin.biz block explorerposted in Help & Support
@Lexicon Hmmm, I may have to look into that. Thanks for the info!
I haven't done any sort of load testing. Perhaps a DB layer is required.
It directly connect to the API, though it caches individual requests (it won't look up the same account multiple times at once, though it will pass through requests for different accounts at once, for example.)

RE: burstcoin.biz block explorerposted in Help & Support
Sometime in the next few weeks (hopefully) I will be releasing a Burst blockchain visualization site that will allow you to monitor the Burst blockchain in realtime.
It also functions a bit like a block explorer. You can click on blocks, transactions, accounts, etc. for a short summary and details. But its primary function is to show off (in a pleasing way) HOW Burst is used.

RE: NXT has achieved 100 TPS in testnet, can BURST also?posted in General Discussion
@Propagandalf said in NXT has achieved 100 TPS in testnet, can BURST also?:
Scaling the blockchain to 100 TPS required complex optimizations. These optimizations won’t be released under the GPLv2 license. They will be available only for commercial private blockchain projects or blockchains running under the JPL license.
Boo!

@VerdommeMan You only have a sample size of 2. As Energy said, be patient. Over time it will even out.

Yeah, so this is exactly the kind of bullshit Burst doesn't need. Come on, man.

@coventry said in Is there a roadmap/desiderata for future Burstcoin development?:
@FlippyCakes Does burst really need more mining? Has anyone estimated the cost of the hardware necessary to double-spend it?
Does Burst need more decentralization? It doesn't hurt, but I agree by no means is it critical. My point was that Burst needs more USERS.
Compared to any other coin, Burst requires less resources to mine, therefor anyone can mine. We are not taking advantage of that. Users should be able to download an app and with just a few clicks start mining and seeing a number go up on their screen.

@Marc couldn't have come onto this forum (looking at his sign up date anyway) at a more controversial time. The unprofessionalism, name calling, etc (mostly from the other side)... and yet as we sit here today the community is growing and the price is going up.
This is true, but as a someone who only cares about development and the future of the coin, BOTH sides have acted childishly. Yeah, the insults from the other side have been more colorful and perhaps more extreme, but when a post over here calls someone over there a "fatass" and then the lead developer of the coin posts a link to the post over there to antagonize that person... yeah. Grown men do not act like that.
Maybe I'm just older than a lot of people here and have more internet (Usenet) arguments under my belt, but nothing good ever comes of name-calling and insults. You've heard the phrase "never argue with an idiot in public?" I'm not calling anyone an idiot, but if the other side wants to be childish, let them be childish by themselves. Newcomers to Burst don't care who insulted who first. Take the high road.
I still have high hopes for the coin BUT they are tainted by the last few months.
