The network is in a thunderstorm...

@stupendelious We don't think it's the new wallet - ninja and the burst-team pools got onto a fork. We've given them a nudge, and should agree on the correct chain soon.

@JohnathanMoura The pools went off on a side chain that the majority of wallets rejected. I've nudged the pools back onto the correct chain, but think the other chain needs to catch up to where the side chain got to. They're currently 10 blocks apart.

@Burstde you should be fine, ninja and the burst-team pools will basically be penalized - we cant mine those 10 rounds. Once everyone agrees on which block we're on, normality should resume.
-
@haitch so biz and eu will decide?
-
@stupendelious No, the other wallets already decided they wouldn't accept our updates, so we went on our own way. I've pointed the pools back in the right direction, but the pools and the rest of the network have to get on the same page. The pools mined about 30 blocks while on the side chain, I believe once we get past that point, everything will sync up.
-
@haitch maybe someone should do a script that checks the block on every pool every, i don't know, 5 or 10 blocks so don't have to be the users that discover they are on a fork... with this i think that you or someone who resolves this issues can resolve faster and maybe the most times users don't even notice that they have enter on a fork?! Just a thought...

@gpedro I was working on getting them back in sync before anyone even noticed there was a problem :) . The problem with the script is that, who decides what is the right block ? The wallets on the side chain were convinced they were on the real chain, as were the wallets on the other chain. There is no central authority on what is the real chain.
-
@haitch Yes thank you for that!
Yes i suppose that the question ''what is the real blockchain?'' is one of those existential questions like what's the meaning of life so a script couldn't decide xD
Maybe if you give authority always to the biggest block number (i suppose it's ninja the most of the time) and who has the authority have to wait for their fellows wallets. Probably is this way that has been made, i'm just an enthusiastic with no much knowledge about all this of course...
Shouldn't the pools that are delayed being mining for getting the same block number of the ninja?

@gpedro the meaning of life is - to be around to answer the question.
