Blockchain db download extremely slow despite good internet connection
-
Hello guys, I'm new here.
After watching some youtube tutorials I finally found out how to start. I downloaded the wallet already (not unzipped yet) and started the blockchain db download.
That's the biggest problem now.
Normally my download speed is up to 6MB/s, maybe sometimes faster. With such speed I manage to download games from Origin and big files (several GB of size) from Google Drive.
The blockchain download is not even close to it. My peak speed was about 200kB/s but usually it's around 50, now dropped 3,2kB/s and can't improve since hours. It often drops to 0 even.So my question, what's the case with this db.zip? Am I doing sth wrong or is your server just so overloaded?
Is there something I can do?
My connection's not the case here I believe.I worry because I won't be ready with the download before the db update which starts the whole process from the beginning.
I'd be grateful for any advice.

@gamedevmike The server has been under DoS attacks, we're working on a solution for this, but for the moment I'm afraid you have to live the slow download.

Okay, thak you for information
-
@haitch why not create some mirrors to download the blockchain DB file, from more places? or to put it into torrent?
-
@oirames the plan is to put it on mirrors
-
@haitch can I help in something? I just want to help and receive some help back to mining burstcoin, I am spanish, can translate your spanish website, or create some mirror to de db file, I dont know what to do, just talk me :) we are living a revolution and I am glad to be a part of it. my email is "mariojimenez408(at)hotmail(dot)com"

@oirames If you have a host that can hold the wallet - setup a cron job to pull it from my server - or build your own copy - then send me a dns/ip for your copy and I can set it up as an alternative dns download. Same goes for everyone else - if you have a public host, and are willing to host a copy, grab it, publish it, and give me a link and I'll publish it.
-
@haitch I dont understand about cron jobs, but I can host in a free hosting service like "000webhost.com" and give you all the details from the account, do you like this way?
-
@oirames If you can send me the account details, I'll look to see if I can push the download to it
-
@haitch perfect I'll do. We will stay in contact.
-
Let us know guys as soon as those mirrors are created, can't wait.

This would be done much better by hosting your own wallet and archiving your DB nightly with cron. Sending multiple gigs per night for a link that may or may not get used is not good use of bandwidth.
I'll have a tool for the Un*x side of things this week.

Why not just let the Wallet sync. itself ...
