Is GPU plotting useful?

Is GPU plotting useful? Since, the plots anyways need to be optimized again, are we better of using something like Xplotter?
-
@rattle99 i have finished plotting 100tb and never used my gpu i know that is not very helpful but it all comes down to speed.. how fast do you want to stop plotting and start mining at full capacity. i also like the xplotter cause it can be Paused Interrupted and restarted from my understanding you cannot do that with gpu plotting.

I updated the GPU plot generator (v4.1.1). It now comes with file pre-allocation when launched with admin rights, which greatly speed things up in terms of IO operations.
-
@cryo Thanks! I'll try it in some time!
But, does it optimize while plotting?
-
@rattle99 direct = optimized
buffer = non-optimized ur choice
-
@HiDevin But doesn't the optimized mode take a long time?
This was actually my initial question, whether simply using some CPU plotter which optimizes as well is an equivalent choice or not, considering the time taken for both?
-
@rattle99 The GPU plotter can create optimized plots in direct mode, and based on @cryo 's post, it sounds like he's fixed the issue that caused the major slowdown with optimized plotting in the new version.

If they could figure out how to make it where we would not have to figure out all the numbers (ie. just click plot) like the AIO... this would be gold!
-
@ProSportsPhotog Xplotter is pretty damn close to that - it only needs to know your ID, and where you want to start plotting - everything else is a tweak.

Not from what I noticed. I had to try and figured out starting and ending. This is the last thing I want to do. And the AIO does this on it's own. I prefer a system get it right so I am getting everything out of the drive. As stated, if they could make a GPU system that is like the AIO (not a little like it, not a lot like it) but LIKE IT.. it would be a beautiful thing. :)
