Copied from techreport.com - some deals on drives:
- Since storage deals are the highlight of the day, we're going to kick off with drives. Out of pure coincidence, today's spinners are all made by Seagate. The first one is the Seagate Ironwolf 8 TB NAS drive. This 7200 RPM drive has a huge 256 MB cache, vibration sensors, and is covered by a three-year warranty. You can buy one of these for only $249.99 at Newegg with promo code EMCSRGRG4. That price works out to only $31.25 a terabyte of fast storage.
- Eight terabytes not good enough? How about twelve, in the form of two times six? Newegg's running a combo deal on two Seagate IronWolf 6 TB drives. You can get the pair for $369.94. That's $50 off the drives' usual combined price.
- If you prefer your mass storage outside your computer, that's okay too. You can have a Seagate Expansion 8 TB USB 3.0 hard drive. This drive has no frills, and that's just fine, seeing as it's priced at only $169.99 at Newegg if you use promo code EMCRGRJ36. Back-of-the-envelope math works out to $21.25 per terabyte. Wow.

cool offers i hope i can buy it in my country.
-
@dvndr007 Unlikely, but if you want you can buy and ship to me and I'll ship them to you if you cover the cost of shipping.
-
I picked up four of the 8TB Expansions. I would stay away from those IronWolfs though... had two of them fail on me.
-
@sevencardz Personally, I stay away from any Seagate where possible. Others have great luck with them, I've had a bunch fail on me.
-
@haitch i tried it before shipping and custom taxes make its cost double so i found it non profitable to buy from abroad. Thanks for your help i will definitely contact you for sure if i found something necessary to buy!
-
@haitch i wont be like @HiDevin and not use your newegg code :P hahaha

Word of advice on the Seagates, avoid them. They consistently fail. In our environment (work) we have (had) 256 of them in our array. They have been in service for 186 days and over 40% of them have crashed. Instead of getting the warranty on them we were able to return them and instead purchased Western Digital drives. To date we are still losing seagates and have had no issue with the WD's. It sounds all good, but you get what you pay for. And then think of all the time you put into plotting etc...
And yes this happens on enterprise drives as well as consumer end.
-
@ProSportsPhotog That been my experience as well - the only drives I've had fail mining have been Seagates or refurbs. Everything else just keeps on spinning ....
-
I recently tried to buy a 8TB drive through Newegg using bitcoin. Somehow the amount wasn't enough and now the money is in limbo until their accounting dept can release the funds back to me. I bought another one but still frustrated.
:(

its funny how things change, i just retired several seagate drives with well over 10 years of 24 hour a day use ,on them, in past wd was crap, looks like seagate had a bad design run several years back.... and hasn't quite recovered.
