Router Resetting Frequently

  • Hey all, I'm wondering if someone more knowledgeable than myself could offer a solution to this.

In the past when I was mining etherium, sia coin, and other coins, my router would constantly be resetting itself. This is the DSL router that came with att service.

Since the weather has changed, I've only been mining storj and burst, and the router problems have stopped. However, I just started up a dedicated unit for boinc. The router is back to resetting itself again.

Any suggested fixes for this? What is happenening?

    Thanks in advance!
    Ryan

  • @ryanw I am running into the same issue as you mining ETH/DCR. I just started mining a few weeks ago (n00b), but before my router hardly had any issues. Now once a day at least I have to reset the router. DSL with Century Link service. I understand sometimes it will reset when issued a new IP address which happens once in a while. Like you, it is going offline more often durning mining. Sometimes it will return after an hour or so. If I catch it, I will reboot the router.

  • @ryanw Obviously the router cannot handle the traffic (Disable services or upgrade router) or its over heating (try different location for router).
    What's the router model?

  • @rnahlawi

2-Wire 3800HGV-B Believe it or not, it's sitting right in front of the air conditioner, just by chance after I set up my office.

This is an owned router that I was able to buy from ATT by pure luck. They no longer sell routers in my area, and force you to lease them. I have attempted to go to another purchased router with them, but they won't support anything else.

Perhaps I'm just screwed for now.
