My post above I assumed the 8 core machine had 16 threads, thus more cores was better. Most CPUs pump out 800-1200 nonces/min/thread.
Depends on what "most cpu's are". My 3770k overclocked@4.5GHz does 10-12knonces/min But thats with 7 threads enabled in the plotting option. I can go 8 but I would not be able to do anything on the pc ans it would lag.
If OP has the money to blow, get the Ryzen 1800X, board and memory and overclock that 1800x to the max, I bet you get 44k n/m or less
ryzen 1700 AMD Ryzen 7 1700 @3Ghz 16gb Ram Win10
18000-19000 nonces/min

Also for the OP.
Good info.

@ShakeAndBake-xD At lower capacities with a good CPU, Blago's miner is fast enough, but in situations where you have larger capacities (50 - 100 TB or more), jminer will scan your drives faster if you have a decent GPU. My rig for example:
FX-8350
GTX 950
96 TB
Blago's miner: 60 seconds
jminer: 32 seconds
