Seagate sale on NewEgg
-
@mrgoldy Plotting sucks but the price is on point. I am almost done plotting my 4th.
-
@mrgoldy plot to another drive and transfer, way faster
-
Also, I posted a topic with some sites that show these deals
-
i usually pay 200 or 208 for WD 8tb ... hey.. seagate has come a long way in my opinion i own 2 of them so far .. this is tempting .. ARGGG ..
-
One small change in setting and the Seagate will write as fast as any external. I know for a fact.
-
I just tried this
The dash line is the first run with the windows cache enabled
the solid line is the 2nd run with the regular default factory settings
I'm not seeing too much of a difference

I also just grabbed a

Another one I just found
Target is having a clearance on WD HDDs
I just got back from Target and found a 6TB MyBook for $125.98+tax, roughly $21 per TB
Some people were reporting finding the same 6TB at their Target for $89.99
-
@HiDevin Promo code EMCRFBJ24 takes another $10 off those Seagate drives.
-
@mrgoldy Looks like I am taking a quick ride down to target! Lemme finish my coffee...
If you have the receipt, can you give me the exact SKU?
-
@mrgoldy That is crazy. Now I wonder if USB controller also plays a factor??? Because it looks like the exact same drive. Only difference is obviously a different system with different components. Did the computer ask to reboot after making the change? It did the first time I set it to cache (after that I could switch without reboot)
So strange because for me the difference is almost unusable to very fast. I guess there is a little more to it then. But for some people it is a huge difference.
-
I didn't purchase it, just checked it out. I have 2 more Targets to look at this weekend, so I can always go back
-
@ScreamIndevnull
It did not ask to reboot, it did remove the USB drive and re connect it automatically after I applied the settings, in both directions
-
Just a follow up. I hit two Target stores in my area. One only had a 3TB Seagate on clearance for $69, and another only had WD 4TB cloud drives for $104/ Not a horrible deal, but I was hoping to find the WD 6TB as I could a drive that size for another project.
My wife is going to check a couple other stores on her way home, but not holding out much hope.

@ScreamIndevnull
Just went to another Target and got the 411 from an employee on the clearance process
1st stage is 30% off, $179.99orig marked down to $125.99 $20.99 per TB
2nd stage, May 22, gets 50% off, $89.99 $14.99 per TB
3rd stage, May 29, (which he felt will not be reached with these) 70% off $53.99 $8.99 per TBSo I will probably be running around to a few Targets Monday morning, maybe I'll leave one on the shelf and go back on the 29th to see if it's still there
