cant seem to download gpuplotter?
-
when i download the windows 64bit version, it gives me a "wordpad" document thats encrypted. doesnt give me a file with a bunch of other files or anything, just 1 single file that does absolutely nothing. what the hell am i doing wrong?

-
@elesdii The TZ files are linux compressed - grab WinRAR from rarlabs.com and use that to decompress them.
-
okay cool, now i got it running but seems to get stuck right in the beginning.
its been stuck on 6144 for 15 mins
-
@elesdii just wait - it's direct mode - very slow
-
@elesdii When you plot in direct mode it creates the empty file, then fills it in, while it's creating it there will appear to be zero progress, but if you look at disk activity in Resource Monitor, you'll see it's writing to disk. Once the empty file is created, it'll be filled in, and that's when you'll see progress. Depending on the size of the plot you're doing it can sit at the initial progress screen for many hours - but as long as you have disk activity, it's working.

@haitch haha we just went over this in my help page too XD, takes like forever though what Haitch said :)
-
@HiDevin On my 8TB SMR drives it was like 2-3 days before it started real plotting.
-
@haitch feels like it right now, i gave up with gpuplotter, it working so well last time, maybe because i didn't really pay attention and just left it on all day but, now im just using xplotter and created this for my 8tb drive

@HiDevin Me too - I'm using xplotter exclusively for plotting a new miner.
-
@haitch how much nounces are you plotting per minute im only plotting 4000/m :(
-
@HiDevin Around 37,000 nonces/min. Dual 10 Core Xeons with hyperthreading, writing to hardware striped drives.
-
@haitch that's like as fast my rx 480 or maybe i didn't configure the devices.txt files right?
-
@HiDevin Thats about the correct rate for GPU plotting - bottleneck becomes the drives. Even with CPU plotting using Xplotter it has to stop and wait for the drives to catch up.
-
@haitch haha that is what my drives are doing right now, they stop plotting nounces and wait for the HDDs instead to write the scoops :P
-
okay, so even tho it wont show progress, wouldnt the nonces per minute be updating? because nothing is changing. and my i7-7700K and running it on 7 threads with 10gigs im only getting like 14-15k a minute :(
-
also, i have a gtx 970 so that should plot my drives faster, no? or should i just not use gpuplotgenerator, different program maybe? im getting tired of spending 25+hrs plotting 5tb drives, cause i currently have 3 5tb's, and an 8tb that just came in the mail to plot yet
-
@elesdii In direct mode it plots into memory the first set of nonces, then creates the file to write them out. Until the file is complete, no more nonces get plotted. Then once the complete, but empty, file is created, then it will starting computing and displaying more nonces.
