Fast Times at New Orleans International Airport

So I have a story to share about what happened to me today.
I returned to NO today from an interview in California, (sidebar: wish me luck, I'll find out Friday or Monday if I got the job)
During our approach the landing flaps failed to deploy, prompting the pilot to call in an emergency landing for our flight today. When the call went out over the PA for any off duty flight attendants, police, etc to Identify themselves. When nobody came immediately forward, I informed the flight crew that I am a 10 year veteran of the Army and offered my assisstance. I was tasked with assisting infirm passengers at the rear of the plane evacuate after landing and helping maintain calm among the passengers.
Guys, let me tell you I thought combat landings in Iraq were rough. Holy shit we came in hot, but the pilot channeled the skills of CPT Sulley (Google him) and we landed without further incident.
So that was my fun today, got to fly all damn day and then almost ate tarmac on landing, good times. Good. Times.

Dang! Definitely a wild story!
Glad you are okay at least!
Crazy!

Damn good to keep your cool, glad to hear all are OK after the ordeal.

Yeah it was surprisingly easy to remain nonchalant during the ordeal. Apparently after you have spent 10 years with assholes actively trying to kill you, mechanical failure on a plane becomes small potatoes lol.

@socal Glad you are safe and well.
