Usb Drives?
-
Do you think it would be efficiant, if I use a lot of usb drives instead of drives would be better?
I thought of putting all of them in raid 0 but idk how that works

@HiDevin I was thinking the opposite as external drives cost more. I am still deciding between buying this beast, https://www.nzxt.com/products/h440-white It has 11 3.5" drive bays and 8 2.5" or just going with all USB 3.0 external drives. I like the idea of all internal to save space but eventually i'm going to run out of drive bays. As far as cost i'm thinking a bigger case will cost about the same as USB hubs, USB cards, power strips and the higher cost per TB on external drives if not less so price isn't really a factor. As far as cool factor definitely the external. Did you see ccminers video of his setup? Crazy seeing all those blinking lights in the dark if you have room for that.

Very interesting as I have also some gigs left on different external HDD's.
Someone who can help me and @HiDevin with this question??Greetz @LoudRex

you need to calculate TB/$ .. also count that external drives will need external power. I'm mixing my rig with bit of both.
RAID 0 will enhance the operation of plotting and Mining BUT if one drive in the RAID fails, you will need to re-plot all drives .. that is one major problem to consider .. so stay away from RAID.

Okay, thanks for the worthy info, @rnahlawi .
But can I just attach a usb hdd to my pc and plot/mine with it???
Is it so "dead" simple??
-
@LoudRex yes it is that simple and straight forward :)
Check this crazy dude:

@LoudRex Yes it is that simple for a few USB Drives. What you need to watch is if you get too many sharing a single USB Channel the transfer rate is shared and the time to read the plots get's too long.
So if your motherboard has multiple USB connectors with Dedicated Channels then use them all, after that look for a PCie interface card with multiple USB ports with Dedicated Channels.
So long as you Monitor the read times as you expand the system you will know what is going on and you can change / add interfaces as necessary.

I'm looking at maybe going this route. Need to make up my mind quick before its gone.
https://louisville.craigslist.org/sys/6055579464.htmlThink this would make much more sense than having wires and external hd's everywhere.
