What happens if I run two local wallets on the same machine?
-
@rds Just configure different ports and it works without problem.
#1
nxt.peerServerPort=8123
nxt.apiServerPort=8125
#2
nxt.peerServerPort=8113
nxt.apiServerPort=8115(not sure if that was all, but as far as i remember that should be enough)
if you have problem with your wallet also try to play with:
nxt.maxNumberOfConnectedPublicPeers=80 -> increase to be connected with more peers
nxt.savePeers=false -> too many old peers in db may slow down initial connectionetc. did not try them all, maybe pool owners have some tips about more settings ...
-
@luxe hey since it seem you played with config, what number of peers you found best to use? i am thinking to lower it as it seems it affects other online programs running (mostly heavy online games like Black Desert)
-
@LithStud Not sure, so i search for it ... first result:
http://smallvoid.com/article/winnt-tcpip-max-limit.html
Guess it depends on platform (win/linux) and hardware.
I will try to find more info ...
-
@luxe example with torrent client i limit it to ~30 connections, but thats torrents :/ I feel the number is best derived just by testing :) going to try to lower it down.

@LithStud
While searching i found a lot of interesting tools ... not sure witch is best or if it improves things ... but i started testing this one:
http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.phpStarted with admin ... 1. choose my network adapter, 2. select optimized, 3. Apply changes

It gives a preview what it will change ... so you can see all relevant registry entries i guess ...

Maybe that helps you improve your connectivity ... interesting stuff, but i'm not sure what i'm doing^^
-
@luxe whoa thats an interesting software :) let me know what you find ;)
-
@rds @LithStud I'm not a network pro, but i think it is clear that a lot can be adjusted in system and in wallet properties ... sadly i can not provide the 'perfect' setup.
EDIT:
- The SG TCP Optimizer seams legit and is around for long time.
- Wow i like this one https://netbalancer.com/ to monitor all my network traffic and connections.
Sadly it is just a trial test version. (on screen you see wallet and miner tasks)

-
Thanks for the good info, I will be playing around to see what happens.
I assume you should add/tweak these parameter changes via the nxt.properties file and not the nxt-default.properties file. The readme file says the nxt.properties overwrites the defaults, correct?
-
@rds you can change the org file, but i suggest to use nxt.properties, so you keep the default as fallback. Also new wallet versions will contain updates in nxt.default.properties ... so in that case you can just copy over the nxt.properties instead of having to change the updated.
-
@luxe there's also Glasswire for the colorblind (or soon to be!-)

A Network monitor which can be used in a free version.
and PRTG with a 100 free Sensores.
-
@luxe most of the time i just go by what i can see in my firewall but it sure isnt as good to analyze trafic as these tools :) @nixxda i think i will try out that free software. Want to play some games while assets wallets are running :D so optimizing and seeing what impacts the slowdowns is realy usefull.
