pool.ccminer.net:8080 new pool for big miners!!!
-
@haitch @iKnow0 let's wait a couple of comments more about it and than we will go for it if they will be positive!
-
I'm all for the target deadline raising too.
-
@ccminer said in pool.ccminer.net:8080 new pool for big miners!!!:
ok folks @haitch finally got the pool protected!!!
So I'm going back, I hope that you guys @RichBC @rnahlawi @iKnow0 can give to this new pool another chance ;)Also you @ItalianMiner72 should join our pool!!!
I will put my main Miner back on Wednesday when I get home. Have my test miner and my Cloud Miner there for the Moment.

@RichBC any thoughts on doubling the target deadline until there are more miners?
-
@iKnow0 I see no problem with that until we hit around 50 nonces being submitted on a Block, then cut it back to keep it around that level.
Rich
-
ok than please @haitch rise the max deadline to 48 hours please
-
@ccminer done
-
@ccminer yeah I need all the deadlines I can get lol!
-
@ccminer We could actually go quite a bit higher that 48 Hours, as we only have a Dozen Miners, and not more than twice that number of nonces being submitted?
Got me thinking that we could do with more intelligent miners such that most Miners only submit a single nonce. The only nonces that need to be submitted quickly are the good / fast ones.
So if a miner was set up to submit a nonce < 4 Minutes immediately but if no fast nonce submit it's best nonce when all of it's plots had been scanned you would have the best of both worlds and delaying the submission of > 4 Minute nonces would relieve the load on the Pool when a new Block is first released.

@RichBC How do u delay a subpar nonce being submitted to finish scanning the plots in hopes of a super fast nonce and then after possibly not getting one submitting the previous not so good one? At least I think that's what you are meaning?
Looking back at the last 10-15 blocks in my jminer the most nonces sent and confirmed per block is 2 but I imagine u guys with lots more plots than I prolly see more confirmed times.
-
@Garbear I think a lot of the problem with Pools, particularily with those accepting very long Deadlines, is the initial rush of nonces being submitted when a new block is released. My idea is that a very large number of those nonces will never be a block winner, but need to be submitted to qualify for the Historic share.
So just suggesting that if there was a delay in submitting the less good nonces this would take a lot of load off the Pool.
I appreciate that there is a risk that a Miner would not get to send their "poor" nonce if a very fast nonce was found by another miner however I suspect the loss would be very small.

Do the skipped ones have any effect on the pool or do they not even get sent at all?
dl '80922615' > '172800' skipped
dl '71745851' > '172800' skipped
dl '50513906' > '172800' skipped
dl '4060932' > '172800' skipped
dl '1799867' > '172800' skipped
dl '1118339' > '172800' skipped
dl '7894' send (pool)
dl '7894' confirmed! [ 0d 2h 11m 34s ]
12% done (5TB 582GB), avg.'803 MB/s', eff.'916 MB/s'

@Garbear Skipped ones are not sent, the skip level being set by the pool. This is the way that Pools restrict the number of nonces they have to cope with when the number of Miners increases.
Rich
-
@RichBC On Blago you can restrict the nonces submitted via the TargetDeadline parameter - you can set it to "I'm too embarrassed to submit a DL longer than 1 hour" for example.
As for extending the deadline on ccMiner pool - I don't really see the point. A DL longer than two days is never going to win, and is going to have a tiny impact on your historical shares. I was actually thinking about setting up a pool that wouldn't accept a DL over 1 Hour, and increasing the % the current block winner got.
-
@haitch well do it with ccminer pool... I would like this pool to be unique....
-
@ccminer your pool so your call - but any other opinions on making it a 1 Hour minimum deadline with 70% of block reward going to the miner who won the block ?
The one thing I am concerned about is that the pool might look "broken" as for many blocks there will be no "Our Best Miner" result.
-
@haitch I am against a 1 Hour minimum Deadline as I can see no value in it. As far as I know the primary reason for having a shorter deadline is to make the Pool more responsive as the number of Miners and nonces increases, so at the moment we have no need for it.
I would however be happy to see the Deadline gradually reduced to keep the number of nonces submitted to be 50 or less.
Also I am far from certain about 70% Current Block Reward as I feel the 60% - 40% split we have at the moment is tried and tested and I have always felt that the more you load the Current Block reward the more this plays to luck as to your Deadline on that Block rather than the Historic Reward which is your efforts over a longer period of time?
However what we need is some more "Big" Miners, so the question is how do you attract them? 1% Pool fee is good and a nice Differentiator. Very high up my list is to have a very reliable pool with excellent up time and no Not Confirmed Downloads.
If you have cracked the Ddos defences then that get's us to base zero however we also ideally need the management to be such that if it goes down in the middle of your night there is someone who can bring it back up again quickly.
So you Bigger Miners (50TB +?) what would the Pool need to offer to get you Mining here?

@RichBC The one hour deadline was a concept I was considering as a differentiator, but as I said, I'm concerned about it making the pool look broken as without additional miners, there will be blocks we have 0 submissions on. So dropping the DL limit down to 1 day over time is probably the better way to go.
I believe the DoS protection works, the pool carried on working during the last attack. pool.ccminer.net wasn't available as it comes through the front door that was under attack, but the alternate address I gave you stayed available as it comes through the backdoor, even though that was also under attack. I suspect we'll find out over the next few days if the DoS protection is fully effective.
As for management, I'm working on two things:
- Giving ccMiner, and possibly others - would you be willing? - access to the pools to be able to restart them.
- Scheduling an automatic restart of the pool on a repeating schedule - I'm contemplating hourly or half hourly - input on the schedule is welcome.
As an incentive to get miners - I'll post a 100,000 Burst bonus to the pool when we hit 50 active miners.
-
This is a promotion"As an incentive to get miners - I'll post a 100,000 Burst bonus to the pool when we hit 50 active miners"
I laugh when i see 1% mining fee lol might as well be 0 .Does anyone know what 1% of 2039 is? That 20 burst a block and divide that savings among 50 miners or a 100 miners lol People if you want miners you have to bleed before you get rich. Dont say I dont know either!
I think sucking up all the large miners is BS but it your problem if you look greedy not mine.
-
@tross What is your problem with this, you constantly seem to be having a dig at this pool?
Anyone can set up any Pool they like with any criteria or reward that they choose. In practice there are as many Miners here with less than 50TB as there are with over that amount.Anyway more important than that I just won my first Block with my Miner running on Google Drive. It's just under 10TB but take 10 Minutes to scan the Plots over the Net, so I am well pleased. :-)
