What if my computer die...
-
Hello everyone,
I'm new in the Burst community and I have some questions, I did not find the answers in differents topics. So, If my computer die, what I will need to recover my Burstcoins ? Do I need only the passphrase and the Burst account ID ? or I need also the file "wallet.txt" or the public key ? I'm a little confuse.
Thank you for your answers
(sorry for my English, I'm not a native speaker)

@Lahou Burst isn't stored locally, so with your passphrase you can connect to any wallet and you will have your burst there :D
-
Just write down you passphrase somewhere and keep it nice and safe
-
Ok I see, so just the passphrase is required, Thank you guys, It is easier than the Bitcoin system.

@Lahou yep public key is stored on the block chain , your private key is your passphrase so there is no issues with lost data or damaged hardware loosing your coins to the eather , the only way that can happen is if you loose every trace of your passphrase , i recomend you print it out and keep a hard copy is a safe place . the Up's of this are you can log into your wallet from virtuly any device conected to the net with one of the browser hosted wallets like https://wallet.burst-team.us:8125/index.html , the only downside i can think of is the fact the passphrase is permanent you can not change it because each potintial passphrase generates a new wallet ... to change pass phrase you must make a new wallet.

Okkkk Thank you Gibsalot

I already printed out my passphrase ^^

For this part, I'm scared to fall in a phishing site and give them my passphrase lol I'm perhaps paranoid hahaha

@Lahou make sure you are at one of the official wallets that are linked here in the fourms, and as always keep anti virus / malware up todate and running to be safe.
-
@Lahou it is also recommended that you create a very long passphrase, i.e. 32+ characters, so that you get more security on that side too.
-
@vExact Yeah I did that thank you

As the owner of these online wallets, I can assure you they're safe. It's just the standard wallet, but with SSL encryption. They've been running for over 15 months and I've not phished or stolen from a single user ...... :-)

@haitch hahaha I don't speak about the owner of these online wallets, I trust him lol, I just speak about a third person, a pirate lol, no offense lol ^^
-
@Lahou No offense taken - just wanted to point out that the burst-team.us wallets are safe. :)
-
@haitch Ok no problem ^^
