NEW BURST LOGO PROPOSAL - VOTE NOW !
-
@crowetic Do not be wrong with me I have not asked for the logo change anywhere I do not care I just said that doing so can be done differently.
The new members will have to accept many things but the old users could have a little more respect in how they communicate with others

The reason this may come off as 'without respect' is because this EXACT SAME logo has already been voted AGAINST. If it were another logo, something different, then I may have had a different reaction to it, as a logo, but the fact remains that changing the logo at this point would be a disasger.
-
@crowetic That does not give you the right to disrespect anyone, I have been able to feel offended by your previous response and yet I have treated you with all due respect.
For me this does not give more of if if they want to change change it and if not then no, I retire to the Spanish forum that it costs me less to express myself

I think you must be taking what I'm saying wrong, I'm not disrespecting ANYONE, I'm wondering why an old logo was brought up again, when it had already been voted against.

@crowetic I can't find the initial poll or popular vote. What I see is the design we have now got approved in 17th August 2014: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=731923.msg8404218#msg8404218
That was one week after Release of Burst.
I think the community is at least 100 times bigger today and a lot of time has passed.
So please don't say "Because a few people say so in a poll not many people saw".I think this counterargues the 'voted against'?
Anyway, I think this is a healthy discussion (as long as we keep it this way)
and does clarify the community's standing on the logo.Lets just keep communicating and things will work out
(come on guys, lets keep burstingloving eachother)
-
@crowetic On the contrary, I think the damage would be minimal on short term and the benefits much bigger on long term. As you said, we are still not even fully established. Changing now would not wreak havoc on the public opinion of the coin as you are implying it. Bigger adoption of Burst has yet to come and changing now would prevent this exact same fight in a much larger scale.
I know that everyone has different tastes in graphism, I did not expect everyone to like this logo. Saying that this would be an absolute disaster is only an opinion and not a fact. Just remember everyone is entitled to his own opinion, and no need to exagerate anything.
And I believe that what is confusing and damaging right now is the current, inconsistent, unprofessional use of the logo. This should be adressed whether we change it or not.
@cwade77 This is a good point, I did not know of the Dash design. On the other hand, it would be impossible to have any logo that is not similar in some ways to an existing one.
-
@cwade77 I talked about similarities, not about plain copying. Every existing logo has similarities in some ways to another, and it is not a matter of a lack of imagination. It is a matter of limitations in colors and shapes that exist.
Also, no need to use that condescending tone in your messages. We are here to discuss as adults, not to fight :)
-
Personally, I'm open to new ideas and new designs. Yet, I understand there might be existing marketing plans that include the existing and approved Burst logo.
Changing the logo now could set back the designs and shorten the time to get things done. Which would be very frustrating. Especially if fiat currency was spent to complete it. Also not everyone is going to update.
For example, just like that Burst Wallet, not everyone is going to update their stuff. Logos on social media, web pages, and other outlets that expose Burst to the world would need to change and I seriously doubt they will. Some accounts are run by folks that are no longer a part of Burst but still have the site up and running.
Not sure who runs the account at Reddit but the header design is dark grey and needs more color. It should be changed to at least the official color. It's examples like these, that reflect that we are not cohesive with our path and logos.
Like I said, I'm open to new ideas but changing the logo now is a bigger task than deciding here on this thread that we are going to change it.

I think a few things have been done here which are a bit unfair or non-representative of a situation where you gather well thought-out opinions from the people who's opinions really matter. Inherently, the poll is slanted in the direction of the 'new' design, simply because you do not show it in contrast to any other older or alternative design. Of course people are going to vote yes on a poll if whatever it is looks half decent and they have nothing to compare it to unless they bother to look around for it. How many of the people who voted Yes actually know what the current logo is? How many of them thought about it for more than five seconds before they clicked Yes? How many of them read the comments or went back to read the original poll done years ago? How many of them hardly know what the hell Burst is and had just signed up a day ago and saw a poll and clicked yes because it made them feel like they contributed? None of those metrics were gathered and I think all of them are relevant.
Furthermore, I think the opinions of more established members like @haitch, @luxe, @crowetic, @dawallet, etc. should be weighted heavily over the opinion of anyone new to Burst, including myself. If for no other reason than because you need THEM to actually accept the logo and put it on their webpages, software, promotional materials, etc. The forced introduction of a new logo could have the exact opposite of the intended effect of unifying the image of Burst, and instead create a divide within the community where established Bursters don't want to change the logo for a bunch of noobs who think their logo looks better, which is honestly pretty petty. Without nearly universal support from those established users on what the new logo should be, I think nobody should proceed with adopting any other logo, or do so at their own risk.
Lastly, I challenge you or anyone else to put together another poll exactly like this one, except rather than showcasing this new logo, showcase the original logo - do it fairly and keep the exact same jist of "the old logo sucks, this new one is better" and see how many people blindly vote Yes for that logo without any clue that they're actually voting for the current one.
One extreme example are polls that ask people whether we should ban dihydrogen monoxide. It's found in all cancer cells, it kills thousands of people every year, it's a primary ingredient in acid rain, we should ban it right?

Thank you sevencardz, you made some good arguments here.
Yes, the poll is about and pointing towards a new design and materials with guidelines how to use it. As I mentioned earlier there were no such approaches since two years. Nobody did the work Gadrah did, he is the first and only (yet).
I think people know what the current logo is. About the design we have today: As I showed you, the design we have got introduced (without a poll) one week after the birth of Burst. What Crowetic is mentioning is a short discussion about 6 new logos against the established one. I can't find the source in the 1200 pages original thread on bitcointalk.
"I think the opinions of more established members like @haitch, @luxe, @crowetic, @dawallet, etc. should be weighted heavily over the opinion of anyone new to Burst, including myself. Thank you. This is a public poll, you can see who votes for what. I see all active developers, admins and mods voted yes except of crowetic and three members with high reputation.
The funny thing is: I made the official website, I merged the shape we use now with the white circle and I chose the colors in paint and I pushed the same logo to all websites: c-cex, coinmarketcap, cryptocompare and I introduced it with the win client.
It was and will be a lot of work for me again to reach out to all the important websites and ask for a change - but I'm willing to do it.There are no guidelines, vector graphics, no high quality version, no "media package" for the present logo. On https://www.cryptocompare.com/coins/burst/analysis/BTC it is even blurry.
You are welcome to make an own poll and present your own design concept. Please provide also HQ graphics, vector graphics, color palette and Fonts. This is a decentralized project - everybody can contribute but only a few actually do.
Please keep in mind that we are talking about improving the logo and media material, not renaming the whole project or changing the protocol.
There will be no disaster, people are used to logo evolution:

The letter "B" will be difficult when trying to use the word Burst in a headline. Like "In Burst we trust" or something similar. The spacing will be really off between the words and or the frame.
I agree the old logo needs work or thrown in a fire.
I created this awhile back for MikeMike but it was decided it didn't make the cut. The bolt is within the left side of the letter so it willl be easier to space it properly with other letters and words.
It's not refined and needs some additional work so don't use it please. As of today I don't have anything new ideas to show regarding the new logo.
Something like this could be a nice option
-
@sevencardz To reinforce @daWallet's point, I just counted the reputation on the two sides of the poll. There is currently a total of 7030 rep points in the yes side and 2206 in the no side.
@all I updated the OP with the link to @luxe's thread in the software section (https://forums.burst-team.us/topic/3554/burstcoin-branding-logo-material).
-
dont change this logo with these i dont like them include more options that look better but for this change i disagree
-
I kinda like the "B"! It could use some freshening up maybe! What's really annoying is the "urst" leftover I see everywhere!!
-
I think the new logo is better than the current one. I wouldn't mind seeing a few other choices, but if it's this or the current logo I'll take this one.
-
@daWallet @Gadrah_ Thank you both for your thoughts. I'm totally fine with logo evolution and your point about it being accepted by the majority of devs, admins, and mods makes me feel more confident in this way forward than the general poll does. Once again, I applaud the effort Gadrah_ has put into this and the willingness to hear everyone's opinion on the matter.
-
@newsense2004 I was thinking the two round parts of the B to make it look like disk drive platters, representing disk drive mining. But ey....to me whatever everyone agrees upon.
-
@Gadrah_ So is this the official logo going forward?
