Can you mine on same wallet from multiple PC?
-
There are limited drive letters available per PC. That being said, can I setup other hard drives on other PC's and mine them all using my Original wallet? Do I need a new wallet for each PC?
-
@Rorepme Drives letter problem doesn't matter, you can mount more than A to Z drives on one pc, check this out: http://www.howtogeek.com/98195/how-to-mount-a-hard-drive-as-a-folder-on-your-windows-pc/
However yes, you can mine no probs from multiple pc all over the world for the same account.

So you have to download the blockchain on each PC, correct? Just needing your passphrase on each PC to make it all work?
-
@Rorepme You have to download the blockchain on each pc only if you decide to mine solo, because you need a local wallet running on each pc for that. But if you go for pool you don't need any local wallet to mine, so the blockchain is not needed.
Your passphrase is needed on each pc for solo mining, for the pool ones you only need that to set the reward recipient (so in this case there's no needs to store the passphrase on every pc!).
If you decide to set this multiple pc thing for pool mining remember to chose a pool without penalty: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1KHu9BWwy_QXIYAx2m_Tzs9BqPoTYUDhEDbHihZEXGsE/edit#gid=81124645

@Dario's-wallet Will the Windows client recognize the drive now that it's concealed as a folder when plotting and mining?
Will it show up on the drop down menu when you are about to plot from the client?

If I don't want to run a wallet on each PC I'm mining on, can I run the wallet on a single machine on my lan and point all my mining PCs at it? Or does the wallet have to be on the same PC that's doing the mining?
-
@zyzzyva you dont have to have a wallet on a pc your mining with.
you only need to do this if your solo mining. but you could run a wallet on a single machine and use the pool software i put in the software section on this forum and use that if your solo mining with multiple pc's
-
If you are pool mining, you want to make sure you are mining to a pool without a penalty. If you do that, you can mine from multiple PCs to a single pool with the same wallet.
Edit: Moved to general discussions.

Blago's miner has the "proxy" function/parameter to do this. You have to configure it by hand though.

Thanks, all! I'll check out both the pool software and Blago's proxy config.

Yes, exactly. Also if you want to set up this function, you can use it also to avoid the pool penalties for lower deadlines, check out this blago's post on bitcointalk, it's also useful to understand how the system works...
EDIT: Last thing, if you want to solomine a good idea is also to run the observer: mail notification if wallet is forked/stucked

@Vanquish Sorry I don't use the AIO, but I guess that it doesn't recognize each folder/drive. You need to plot manual.
-
@Dario's-wallet Gotcha, thanks for the reply.

I was thinking about this, and I'm happy to use the pool software, but I'm curious why you can't solo mine to a wallet on another computer, if you've opened up the wallet's API port and it's accessible to the mining PC. Is it a security issue around sending the passphrase? Or time synchronization? Or is there something else?
