@iKnow0 Ah, my bad that sucks maybe the ones in Ireland are the equivalent price? If amazon has a Ireland website that is.
-
@AngryChicken That is the amazon Ireland price :-)
-
@iKnow0 Oh amazon, shame on you for not offering an equivalent price world wide. tisk tisk.
-
@AngryChicken plus they gouge you on currency conversion. dont get me started!! :-)

Seagate drives are pretty unreliable ihmo (I work with a lot of used drives and 80% of the ones that have failed are seagates. YMMV though)
-
@Xander52 I have a lot of these drives and they are really reliable. I do agree that the external hdd's fail but that's only because of the cheap sata to usb 3.0 chips they use. What I do to combat this is I open the external drive case (Carefully so you don't void the warranty) and plug the real drive into my computer through sata3, this is not only faster but more reliable. I guaranty that if you were to open the external drives that have failed you would see that it's the chip not the actual drive itself that has failed. In any case drives do fail that's why they come with warranty's. But I'm not being payed of advertising so it's ultimately up to the consumer, I just wanted to share this low priced offer to people that may not a lot of money to invest in mining.
-
@AngryChicken I Have two of these drive and they work perfectly for mining Burst 24/7. Forged a few blocks with these drives already and I'm Thinking of getting two more for this price!!!
Thanks,
CesBurst1782

@CesBurst1782 Awsome, I have 3 up and running right now myself and just bought 3 more.
-
@AngryChicken Yeah you are right. I normally use internal drives anyhow. I get really inexpensive drives that are smaller. I suppose burst mining does not wear the drives too much.
-
@CesBurst1782 I was thinking of buying some of these drives also. Any idea how long ROI would be, and also how long it is currently expected to be able to mine burst before it becomes unprofitable?
-
@sis111 I plugged in 8TB in http://burstcoin.biz/calculator and it gives $0.32 of profit per day, or 562 days to ROI if the drive costs $180 USD.
Burstcoin rewards are dropping as time goes by, plus you need electricity to run it. It should ROI before the 3 year warranty ends if nothing drastically bad happens, and perhaps in 1 year if prices go up.
There are a couple of decentralized file storage apps that should mature over 2017 so that's another use for the drives.
-
@sis111 @kaydencc Remember that the ROI is based of the price of the coin. So yes it'll take a long time to get a return on investment at these prices but if we go up to 300 Sat's then the ROI will be less than one year. Burstcoin in any case is unprofitable to mine right now, everyone who mines it is waiting for the price to rise before selling their Burst. As for mining it takes 5 watts to run a 3.5' Hdd so the electric bill is minimal, making the computer inefficiency more costly then the mining process. But if the price is still too high go here :http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822178837
These are referbished 5TB drives so if space is a problem like myself then it's best to get the larger capacity drives, but it's up to you.
Just remember you can sell these Hdd's after your done using them.
-
@AngryChicken Yup. Regardless, even if it's a 3 year ROI it is still really good compared to other investments in the financial markets. The drives don't lose value that quickly too unlike graphics card.
That drive dropped to $170 today and I grabbed 5.

Here's one from Besybuy..
-
@Wolf Thanks for sharing didn't notice that bestbuy lowered their prices for the holidays too.
-
Grabbed 1 despite my past problems. They might of fixed the issue's I had with ones replaced under warranty
