1TB usb - Real or Scam?
-
Hello, I was just going through some eBay listings, I know that there are a lot of fake 1-2 tb usb drives for a couple of bucks but then I found 1 seller from the UK he has ver 5000 positive feedback and he is offering this -

Seems little bit fishy to me, what do you think?
-
@babelis please provide a link, research is hard with only this picture :-)
2TB usb2 uhhh ... expect speed of 5-10 MB/s
-
@babelis @luxe 1TB USB drives do exist but they are really expensive. But be careful because a lot of people are selling fakes like this one I believe because of the low price. On the other hand it could have "fallen off the truck" which would explain the low price.
-
it's a scam. it's a flashed bios 512 MB USB making your computer think it is 1TB when it is not. :)
EDIT: Downside, you will lose everything beyond 512 MB in that stick. Please google 1TB USB Scam Ebay. It's all in there.

yes sorry there is one from the photo - http://www.ebay.com/itm/64gb-128gb-256gb-512gb-1tb-2tb-OTG-USB-2-0-Flash-Drive-Memory-Stick-/182298181794?var=&hash=item2a71d180a2:m:mfvEb_Lslw0myo3O-FFiX_A
and also another 512 GB for 10$ also very good price - http://www.ebay.com/itm/201687822488?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&var=501445226858&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

@babelis just look at the negative comments:

@luxe yep just found them :/ what about the second one?
-
@babelis guess the same, always chec k the nagative comments and maybe compare with real offers ... if it's too good, it will be not true.

@babelis I remember this HP announcement on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/cln/tnimitz0/counterfeit-hp-fake-capacity-usb-flash-drives/167558126015. There's a big market of fake high capacity USB drives, also regarding other brands: they are only flashed low capacity drives in order to be recognized by the software bigger than they are. As @AngryChicken correctly said 1TB USB sticks exist, but they are very expensive. Beware...
-
@Dario-s-wallet Kingston HyperX Predator 1TB (usb3) over 900$...
-
yeah, thanks guys, seems like all of the cheap ones I found are scams... let's stay with Hdd :D
-
Those cheap ones are just flashed to look like high cap drives, I always go by "If it looks too cheap to be true, it probably is"
-
I've been wondering the same... 1TB drives for $10 on Wish / Aliexpress / etc. Haven't tried em yet ;).

@babelis Someone on YouTube a person made a video about testing USB true capacity space. This person bought a 1TB USB stick for 50 dollars from eBay. After testing its capacity, the true space of the USB was 8GB only, so was a fake ended e-mailing eBay seller for a refund.

@Ramon32842016 Yes, I have seen it
-
@babelis Not so long ago, I was shopping at Walmart and I saw 2TB external hard drive price for 56 dollars. If live in the United States Black Friday day after Thanksgiving holiday most all electrics are 50% or more off to shop around and you might a great deal. But, I heard shopping online is even better deals to get.
