@AngryChicken The db download is only a helper - if you have the wallet then you can download the full blockchain from Block 0. The download I provide just gets you up to date faster - removing access to it doesn't cut anyone off from the blockchain.

Then, there's the answer I was looking for. So, as long as we have the local wallets running @AngryChicken we'll be fine. :)

  • @haitch Nope I agree fully, but I also think that you should allow someone to transfer funds into a local wallet before cutting off access to their web wallet. As for the Db download I am glad to hear that it's still available beyond the db helper, but the way you announced it didn't make it seem that way. Remember that's a very sensitive topic.
Once again I don't disagree but the execution of announcement could have been handled better than an impulse ban and a instant denial of service. As for the comments remember I do endorse a permanent ban after the user has setup alternatives.
I don't want to drag on a sensitive subject as it's damaging.
Also thank you once again for all the investment you have contributed to this project.

  • @AngryChicken THe local and online wallets work bilaterally. So, what's in the online wallet is also in your local wallet, if your local is updated. no need to transfer funds.

  • admin

@AngryChicken Funds exist on the blockchain - not in the local or online wallet. Denying access to the online wallets denies them access to a service I provide, not their funds. If they install a local wallet all their funds are available. I just provide a service, I don't control anyone's funds, and certainly wouldn't deny them access to their own coins - even if I could. Burst was up and running for a couple of years before I setup my hosts, the services I provide just make it easier.

And it wasn't an impulse ban - I let my pool being called a scam go, I called it being a waste of time go, but being called an "idiot" and "fat dog" was more than just a little step over the line.

And it's not dragging on a sensitive subject - this is the Burst community, and I may have the power of a benevolent deity, I never laid down behavior rules as I didn't think it necessary, but behavior that far outside of what any in the community would deem acceptable - I'll act on them. If people think I'm being overly sensitive, or over-reacted then I'd like to hear those opinions. I wasn't kicking @jumbolin out of the coin, just denying him the services I provide, and all I asked for for access to those services to be restored was an apology for the insults, and an agreement to abide by the community norms.

You have the power to do that? Or this is just a figure of speech?

  • admin

@jervis The first part of that sentence: "I don't control anyone's funds" - Everyones coins are in the blockchain - no one can control someone else coins

  • @jervis Alright, that's good well then I don't have any objections other than those things I originally listed. It's not up to me so long as nobody has been abused in anyway in result of being an ass.
Then if this is all @haitch has done and @jumbolin still had access to everything except haitch's servers that make things easier then he was within his rights and I'll support it.
Once again for somebody that is just started researching the back-end of Burstcoin or for people that don't know how it works the above postings sound very dictatorial and misleading in how intrusive haitch's ban movement was.

  • admin

@AngryChicken What I provide is a convenience, not core Burst functionality. Banning someone from my hosts does not affect their ability to mine Burst - it just removes the additional services I provide. Burst is totally de-centralized, no one can shutdown someones access to utilizing it.

I have paid about $10,000 for this site and the services I provide. I get to ban people who insult me so much over 1/3rd of a penny

  • @haitch That's good, and how it should be sorry for commenting so strongly it's that wasn't the way it came across.

  • admin

@AngryChicken No problem - I should probably have taken a couple of deep breaths before I posted, but I was pissed. But what I said stands - people that won't observe basic community standards will be excluded from the parts of it I manage.

  • @haitch Ps. The pool is down again. LOL

I can only assume some internet issue is screwing up connections to the pool. The host is showing 2% working, the host it's on < 10%

  • @haitch Very interesting, Ok as long as my submissions are being confirmed pool side I don;t care about confirmations client side.

  • Don't mean to intrude however @haitch remember my past pool issues with people getting error connection 10060

and my pool software would return web-socket errors and disconnect errors. Come to find out I had 2 routers get their firmware corrupted. The last router died and since then no more issues. The next time this happens I know it's a router. Also these fore father's really have done a lot for and we should be grateful.

  • admin

@Burstde I'm downloading the latest firmware for the pool right now - but I don't know if it'll help. People are having issues with one specific pool - the other 7 running on the same same VM, and same IP, hosts seem to be fine.

But trying it anyway - everything is going to go down for a minute or two due to system reload.
