Win10 auto restart happens when plotting
-
I can't get it to open. As soon as i click on the file it opens/closes immediately
-
@Rorepme You have to run it through the command prompt... Read the post of PlotChecker, there is instructions in there... I'm sorry but i am in my phone and can't see the syntax right now, but if you can't find the correct syntax i will reply to you when i get home in some hours ;)
-
I will try when I get back home
-
-
I give up
-
you cannot open the plotschecker.. you have to run it as a command.
-
@jervis He is .... ;-)
@Rorepme - windows 10 32 Bit I assume? You can't run the checker as it's 64 bit.
-
I don't know if it's 32 or 64... where do I locate that?
-
It says system32 in system information so I assume that means it's not 64 bit. What do I do then?
-
@Rorepme if you have PC icon on desktop right click it and select properties. If not go start and search system info :)
-
Yeah, it's 32. What can i do to make the PlotsChecker work with it? or am I shit outta luck?
-
@Rorepme You can't - you'd need to reinstall Windows with the 64 bit version.
-
@Rorepme What about going to settings - devices - printers and scanners - then turn off option: Download over metered connection. System will think you are on limited data connection and stop updating and restarting system. I think its the only way to prevent Windows 10 from restarting during ploting the hard drive.
-
@westcity I think there is a way of stoping auto updates...
-
@Rorepme @westcity @gpedro Hey, about your problem with updates there's a way to stop them in windows 10. If you go to the settings tab, then click wifi, then select your current connection. You'll see details about your current connection just click metered connection option and windows will ask to download updates before doing them.
If you still have problems after this here's a definite way of stopping them (NOTE: Windows will never update until you manually change this setting back).
In the windows search bar type "Services" click on the displayed option as shown:

Next scroll down to Windows Update in the Services window as Shown:

Click properties then select disable in the drop down menu as Shown:

Now just click "Apply" and "OK" , then restart your computer and windows will NEVER Update (Although this can be dangerous as updates contain security improvements)
All the best,
AngryChicken
