@haitch hi, have you had any issues running Jminer, i have 16GB RAM is it enough? it runs out of memory/resources or its slower than the AVX miner. My GPU is XFX RX 480
The memory issues you had?! may be caused by Win7 cache handling ... jminer has no workaround like Blagos for that issue. So do not use jminer for high capacity on Win7. Due to your fast GPU i see no other reason for high memory usage with jminer.
-
@iKnow0 As Luxe said - it's more likely the Windows 7 caching issue, and there is no work around. Upgrade to 10 or use Blago's miner.
-
@haitch i'll try it with windows 8. thanks for the feedback
-
@RichBC holy read times batman! 10 seconds read on 70tb?! what cpu do you have and are they optimized!?
-
@goodplanets hahhaa! That's insane, right?
-
@goodplanets He said he was running with jMiner so he is using his GPU but he said he had a i7 on that PC on the picture xD
-
@goodplanets Yes as the post says it's a water cooled i7-4790k with 32GB RAM running jminer on a Sapphire R9-290X. Plots are not optimised, however I think I will only knock about a second off. :-)
However luxe is doing 282TB in 33 Seconds, now that is really fast.......

@RichBC Very Nice, and yes 200+TB in about 30 seconds is incredible as well!
I must learn the ways of this Jminer.

Here's my rig: (85)*tB - *in progress and constantly growing.
3.3mhz Intel single thread CPU (needs upgrading i think)
MSI Gaming Intel Skylake B150 LGA 1151 DDR4 USB 3.1 ATX Motherboard (B150 Gaming M3)
Nvidia GTX 970 GPU
TR2 RX 850W power supply
220 Solid state OS SDD
17 5TB Seagate Expansion External HDDs
1 cool case my friend Gooter gave me for my bday. :D
-
@goodplanets yeah, with 17 drives you definitely need more threads, or switch to jMiner.
-
@haitch Thanks, I figured as much... I'm using my gpu card to plot (constantly) so I think I'm going to upgrade to a nicer CPU.
-
@goodplanets I've got one on order for one of my miners - going from 4 cores, no hyperthreading @ 1.80GHz to 8 Core + Hyperthreading @ 2.0GHz - should speed up mining a little :)

I sooooooo want this
Dell R900 Server 128GB RAM Windows Server 2012 - $600 (metro atlanta) hide this posting
1
condition: like new
make / manufacturer: Dell Server
model name / number: R900
Pristine condition 4U Dell Server. 128 GB RAM. (4) processors each with 6 cores for a total of 24 physical cores. Power house server with Windows Server 2012. Also have one with VMWARE Workstation 12.
Redundant power supplies. (2) 10 GB ethernet ports. (2) 1GB ethernet ports. The ram alone is worth over a 600.$ 600 cash. Can deliver in Metro Atlanta
I think i can get it for about $350 tho

@haitch do you think these are ideal for mining purposes?

or would you have a recommendation on hand?
Thanks,
-
@goodplanets Both would be fine - as long as they match a motherboard you have - building a complete system from scratch for Burst can get pricey.
-
@haitch yep i'm about $3k in and I wont be satisfied until I have acceptable results.
One thing I'm concerned about is CPU and RAM usage maxing out. Once in a while System crashes.
Thought it might be plotting related but no, it's getting worse with every drive the miner has to read.
-
@goodplanets One thing I've found that helps with plotting is a high speed drive for the pagefile - I'm replotting my 60TB drive and threw a PCIe NVMe drive in the rig, and created a 64GB page file on it, removing the pagefile on the physical drive - it's been running great.
For mining, if using CPU, try and use a CPU with at least as many threads as you have drives.
-
@goodplanets Are you on Windows 10? If so go to your Task manager and see if there is some processes getting your CPU and RAM usage high as hell...
There are 2 services on Windows 10 that have to be disabled manually in order to stop this consuming processes... IDK if it is your case but just a tip! xD
-
hey all can someone give me a good recommendation for a CPU upgrade on this system
here are the possible CPU's i am looking at and doing 2 of them ( server currently only has 1 )

And you lost me there. :( is there a simple explanation for us english speakers?
