ORPHAN BLOCKS
-
I am wonder is any other pool operator have Orphan Blocks this week?
We had 3 in last 2days but never before!
-
@tross What do you mean by orphaned blocks ?
-
@haitch Blocks not included by the main chain, but instead dropped off. Like having 2 block 1000. You can only have 1.
-
@haitch I got 1 block that go to wallet balance increases then next block is gone! I post a image of console later
-
@tross that'll normally happen when two pools have deadlines that are extremely close - they both think they've won, and will credit the win - but then the network settles the difference and the losing pool shows the real winner.
-
-
But you see my balance increases then back to before! It happened 3 times 24hr!
-
@tross I'm not familiar with the code for your pool, but I believe it's the issue with very close deadlines I explained above. The pending changes are based on what the pool thought happens, then changes when it learns reality.
-
@haitch i agree with close deadlines but why is my balance positive in the first place if we didnt get it, to me thats a blockchain flaw. Sending payments then taking them back has nothing to do with pool code.
-
Code is being worked on to stop this from happening .But I still find it strange and annoying! Its 2:45 am tross needs sleep too but hard knowing this could happen again! I dont wish to lose miners cause of something like this!
-
@tross It's not the blockchain sending it (at least I don't think it is) - it's the pool software updating it's internal balance with what it thought it won. If it is the Blockchain, then your pool has a wallet that thinks you won, gives you the reward, then wallet learns reality and fixes it's mistake.

@haitch I will talk it over with Lexicon he know the code better than me and see what he thinks. I am not mad just tired and frustrated! Thanks for fast reply!!
-
Have not had a chance to talk with him but did see this while searching for something. What would a missing block be called?
-
@haitch "its defo the wallet guarantee balance is used by all uray pools" so it comes do to this miners with almost same times. Its not the pool code but the system. I could have a miner with a 55 sec deadline and at 54 sec it can be taken away by someone with 12 sec. That makes it very easy for blocks to be claimed at the same time. They should of made it when your deadline passed its no longer valid!
Please dont say it doesnt happen cause I have seen it many times on my pool. A 7 sec deadline pops up boom its his lol disaster waiting to happen. Apparently things were not fully thought out but what the heck I cant do better! We will adapt and make ourselves better!
