GPU miner choice for mining altcoins (and buying more burstcoins)

I am considering to build a small GPU farm at some point, and would like to know some basic details first.
Can anyone recommend which GPU cards are currently conceived as being 'the best' for mining altcoins? I'm not looking for the most expensive one, unless that also is the best one. Being able to serial connect a card or other features may be of interest too.
I'm not quite sure what kind of equipment I need.
Could you recommend any good youtube videos for setting up an altcoin farm? I'm thinking that there are probably some good guides out there.
