At what point should I mine on a second computer
-
I guess I am a little lost when people say "mining time" I get a separate time for each HDD and it varies greatly for each one.
-
@superskid Times will vary accross drives depending on the capabilities of the drives, and how optimal the plots are - as long as you're completing them all under 1 Min your good. Over 1 Min, you need to look at optimizing them.
-
But if I have one plot that is 6TB taking over a minute vs another plot of 500GB taking 40 sec wouldn't the 6TB plot still be more efficient even though it takes longer or am I missing something?
-
@superskid You want the mining to complete as fast as possible- you could have a 1 second deadline in your plot, but if it take you 60 seconds to find it, and someone else submits a 59 second deadline - you miss out. I have a miner with 56TB - 64 Seconds to mine it, another with 38TB - 50 seconds to mine.
-
@haitch Do you have a thread with your mining OP setup somewhere? I seem to recall that you do.

OK, right now I am in the process of optimizing plots so that is using up a lot of mining resources so I think that's why I am running a little slow. Once I have everything optimized I'll post a screenshot of my miner log.
-
I guess I do have another question. Right now all 7 of my drives are in a mediasonic 8 bay drive enclosure. That is connected to my PC via USB 3.0 Should I be taking each of the drives out of that and connecting it directly to my PC via sata or is that going to make a difference?
-
@superskid Direct sata connection is going to be faster and I'd put as many as your have sata ports & power for internally.
-
OK, once they finish optimizing I will take them all out of the enclosure and move them. My case is tight so maybe I can try and find sata and power extension cables and store them outside of my case. Does that exist?
