Plotting Issues
-
@Ranger64 usually sometimes the plotter runs out of memory so you have to restart it, I supposed everytime it ran out of memory, you ran a new one right?
-
I am running a dual core I have run it on both two and one core and it still doesnt move, Iwill provide screen shots if possible
-
@Ranger64 ok, if possible use the gpu plotter, way better imo and also if the time saying its going to take years, don't worry that just a crappy estimate
-
I have been using cpu as its more feasable at present, as Im only new to all this

@Ranger64 that's really slow. I see you're already using 2 cores. it should be 1000+ nonces/minute. :( @haitch, any suggestions on this?
-
Yes very frustrating
-
@Ranger64 Yeah, thats really slow - off hand no idea why. Is it an internal drive or USB? What GPU do you have and have you tried the GPU Plotter ?
-
@haitch External drive via usb 2TB Toshiba HDD and is running CPU I have no idea what graphics card is in pc its a standard HP or Compaq sliimline pc 8850 I believe

My question is about 'plotting'. However, it is about setting up the HDD. I plan to add a 5TB HDD to my system and use it for burst mining in the Linux environment (Ubuntu 14.04). I plan to format the drive in ext4 with one partition.
My question is:- The most efficient way to set up my hdd. Should I make a small partition for all the software downloads with the remaining for plotting?
- One partition with software and plotting all together?
Or - One partition with software loaded to a file and run from another drive?
If this subject has been discussed, please point me in that direction. As you can tell I am new to mining and most research shows setting up and using the software but not the best way to set up a drive to run the mining operation/wallet/etc.
Thanks for any help.

@vadirthedark Use one large partition and one plot file for the whole drive. Put the plotter/miner on a separate drive, if using Ext4 make sure you disable write barriers prior to plotting.
