If we can mine on Android phones, Can we mine on Android TVs?
-
@jervis What do you mean with after the mining and POS? Ethereum goes POS someday - but not this coin.
There will be mining PoC forever. Someday only the transaction fees will be the reward. And it will be enough.

oh yeah, PoC. :)

I need to finish it up, but I have the Android app running on my TV, plotting doesn't work it crashes when it tries to do the math. For some reason the BigInteger support in JAVA causes it to explode. I'll keep you guys posted.

You mean it causes it to Burst? ;)

@IceBurst That sounds awesome! Have an Android TV lying around and would definitely be interested in doing some mining on it while it's idle - the Nvidia Shield TV (what I have) can read external HDDs.
@daWallet The HDD in your photo, was it plotted by your phone or was that from another computer? I guess what I'm asking is how close is this to being a reality? Sounds super awesome. Keep up the good work!

@vier23 This is just a USB OTG photo with a HDD I found. It is possible but the code of line for external drives is missing. No big deal, but not tested with such big sizes yet.
I have a Xperia Z (2013) with 128 GB SD Card mining on the beta mobile pool. Works.

I have an Asus Transformer tf300t with the Dock so i can plug in external hard drives and mine on it but I need the phone miner to allow me to choose the location to plot
that is all i am waiting on
-
@daWallet Ahh I see. Being able to hook up HDDs to an android device would be pretty amazing. Maybe not very practical for phones (because USB OTG means you won't be able to charge and have your HDD hooked up unless you have wireless charging) but it would be very cool to do on a tablet/android TV with USB ports. If you ever get that extra line(s) of code added in, I wouldn't mind helping with some testing with my Nvidia Shield. Keep up the good work! Thanks!
-
@vier23 Hmm If you use the OTG connected to a USB Hub that is powered externally it will not charge your mobile at the same time as you are mining?
-
@Njcfamily31907 I have the TF100 and haven't been able to hook up any laptop hard drives or regular ones. The only thing working is all the sdcard and usb slots for flash drives and sdcards
-
@gpedro I guess I've never thought about using an externally powered USB Hub. Not sure if that works. Have you tried that before? I was thinking of just plugging a hard drive or usb drive directly to the USB OTG dongle. I am definitely more interested in using this with my Android TV though.
-
@vier23 No i never tried because i don't have a USB Hub exernally powered but i think it could work ;P
-
@gpedro I don't have one either so I wouldn't be able to try. It would be very interesting if it did work though. It would be time to dust off some old android phones lying around.
