- WD 12TB (2x6TB) = 500$
- Seagate Expansion 5TB = 130$ or 4*5Tb = 20Tb = 520$ - best choice
-
and its quite important that you have access to every single physical drive, raid is not the best choice for mining speed.
-
@luxe so do you think the wd 12 tb is the better choice? or do you have other suggestions that wouldnt break the bank? thanks!
-
The 12tb supports JBOD, so you can configure it to access every single drive.
I'm just checking e.g. this http://geizhals.eu/?cat=hdx&xf=5588_HDD~339_3.5"~840_USB+3.0 to get a overview on prices.
Like Blago said ... price/TB is what you should look at first.

@luxe thanks for the info also 1 more question sorry im super noobie at this. so if i buy more drives do i have to plot them agian? or can i copy and paste the plots on my other drives to the new ones?
-
@Blago thanks i think im going to go with the the seagate is there any better drives you would suggest?
-
You have to plot them, duplicate existing does not work.
But there is software that can speed up plotting, like https://forums.burst-team.us/topic/58/gpu-plot-generator-v4-0-3-win-linux/2
Plotting is perfect explained in deep in this video:
