I need a little help plotting my new drive please
-
I have a new external NAS hard drive I am wanting to plot I have it all mounted on my Imac and can plot, but I am not sure how to set my plot file so it does not overlap with my old plot file this is my old plot file "8052281049400818501_0_2310144_8192" it is 605 gig but I want to add my 1TB NAS drive what would the settings be to plot the new 1TB drive
Thanks

@abansb i don't know what is the command on imac but the starting nonce of your next file should be 2310144 or higher so you don't overlap those plots... hope that answer your question...
P.S.: The last nonce of a plot file is never written because it start at nonce 0 not 1
-
Yes I know the command to do the plot I wasn't for sure what the next file should start at thank you @gpedro now to figure out the plot size it is showing 916 GB on the drive
-
I got it set to plot 915 GB out of 916 I am not sure if I should leave more than that open on the drive
-
@abansb in terms of life time of the hdd you should leave 10% free but mines are at the most xD
-
ok thanks a lot for the help @gpedro
-
@gpedro said in I need a little help plotting my new drive please:
10% free
My 11 HDDs used for nearly 100% of size
@haitch said in Plot configuration by Hard drive Sizes:
The issue with trying to plot 100% of the disk space is that the plotters would round up and try to plot 105% of your capacity, leading to plotter hangs and mining warnings. By aiming at a % less than full capacity, the issue didn't happen.

Ok, I had to plot it on my windows machine but I am having no luck pointing to my drive in the jminer.properties I have tried everything well, everything but the right way can any one please help me with this sorry to keep bugging people for help
This is the part of my properties file
plotPaths=/plots
scanPathsEveryRound=
listPlotFiles=I have tried z:, \LS-VLC36\share, \share, z:\share. When I tried plotting on my Mac I had to use \LS-VLC36\share and it was plotting, but it was taking way to long to plot and it was slowing my Mac way down I couldn't use it. So I switched over to my windows machine.
I do have it network mapped on my Mac
Thank you
-
@abansb you need:
plotpaths=<drive letter>:/<path>
So if the plots are on your D drive under \plots, you need:
plotpaths=d:/plots
Note the forward slash ( / ) as the directory separator, not back slash ( \ )
-
ok it is putting it under Burst\plots but it is mapped as shares
Oh This is a NAS Hard Drive
-
@abansb Same idea applies - what is the mapping to the NAS? In windows Explorer, go to the folder that contains the plot files, what's the path in the address bar ?
-
on my mac it is just share. My Mac is what I mine on but when I connect to it it is this smb://LS-VLC36
-
@abansb Are you mining it on a windows box, or on a Mac? If it's on Windows, browse to the folder, right click on it and :select "Map Network Drive" - that'll give it a drive letter you can use in the plotpaths statement. If you're mining on the Mac, no idea sorry.
-
yea I am mining on a Mac
-
If I can't get it figured out I will mine on both thanks for the help though @haitch
-
Can you mine while it is plotting I am getting a size/mismatch and error opening plot file.
-
Yes you can BUT first you should have created successfully a plot.
So first create a plot and let it finish. Than start plotting a new one and then mine with both.

I have no idea of mac, but here is a post of someone, who set it up:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1170987.msg12330292#msg12330292
He has his plotPaths like:plotPaths=/media/tony/2TB-Ext4/plots,/media/tony/WD1.5TB1/plots,/home/tony/gpuPlotGenerator/plots
-
I got it figured out I had to use /Volumes/shares/plots to add it to the properties files
Again thanks for all the help
