  you only need to do this if your solo mining. but you could run a wallet on a single machine and use the pool software i put in the software section on this forum and use that if your solo mining with multiple pc's

  I was thinking about this, and I'm happy to use the pool software, but I'm curious why you can't solo mine to a wallet on another computer, if you've opened up the wallet's API port and it's accessible to the mining PC. Is it a security issue around sending the passphrase? Or time synchronization? Or is there something else?

  I've been mining various cryptos for years now, sometimes with much sketchier equipment than hard drives (i.e. GPUs, ASICs), and these are my rules of thumb:

  If a mining setup runs for 12 hours with no issues, while I'm around to check on it, it's good for 24/7 mining. Anything that passes that last rule can be left on 24/7 and while I'm not home. Mining equipment has to be located in areas that pets can't get to without supervision. (I don't have kids, but I imagine the same rule would apply.) I shut the mining equipment down if I'm going on vacation or won't be home overnight for some reason.

  Never say never, but I've haven't had a disaster yet while following those rules.

  @AngryChicken it doesn't matter wether it's done on your local or the online - if the network is forked, either of the forks could become the real one. It's the transactions on the "wrong" fork that take time to resolve. When the fork happened yesterday, two of the online wallets were on one branch, the other two on the other one. There's no guarantee that your local is correct, it's equally likely to be on the wrong one.

  Basically, check the network state before doing any significant transfers/purchases/sales.

  I have also used jminer on uray's pool code with no problem in early 2016. I started with the ninja pool and ended up at the Italian pool. Now have my own pool but also switched to Blago miner. I have other miners with jminer that dont complain so maybe your configuration is not correct. I could install one of my gpu and try for myself.

  @babelis Yep thanks for the reminder. It helped me a lot. Been at the kids basketball tournament all day just got home starting on it tonight should have something by tomorrow morning or afternoon. I got more games tomorrow as well....

  the difficulty goes up or down based on how many total TB's of mining power are connected to the network. with new people joining the community and people that have been here for a while adding more and more HDD's the trend is up.
