RE: My 1/2 PetaByteposted in System Builds and other hardware stuff.
@kmaxkmax Yeah. me too. i just wouldn't know how to dish it out as an asset. And i've already been super busy. I've put 200 video cards online in the past 90 days. and now this petabyte setup is going to take another 30 days to get running. I'm open for ideas. But i don't want more stuff to manage and take care. I already have a lot on my plate with keeping these 200 cards running for myself and others.

RE: My 1/2 PetaByteposted in System Builds and other hardware stuff.
@BigBear Well. I already have 40 video cards online mining ethereum. You see i ran out of amps on my box. My poor house. Also. Because i've been mining burst for a year with my 50tb server. And i now was able to buy all those drives and miners with just the burstcoin i produced. My 50tb server only cost me 1k. So for all of those drives to only really cost me 1k.. Well. That was a no brainer. the 600k burst i spent on this. I will be able to make back in 2 months. So yeah.
And also. Burst is a little guy. And has a lot of room to grow. As my example above. My bet in the future paid off.

RE: Need to bounce ideas off people for my petabyte setup.posted in Mining & Plotting
All great answers and very helpful. The first person that answered the questions i sent 3500.
Even tho he was first. Other posts were more detailed and even more helpful. I sent 2000 burst to each person. Thanks guys..I have 68 total 8tb seagate expansion drives. ( i know they are crap. but cheap! )
1 machine will handle 34 drives each.Follow up questions with more burst up for grabs. 250 burst each
- Best device info config for gtx 1070? I'm using 8192 512 128. Only gets me 8000 nounces writing direct dual or single. 22k in buffer dual plotting 2 drives at once.
- I already have the two burst miners built. I have one pcie slot. I just got into jminer. Can jminer also use cpu? So can i when i'm done remove gtx 1070 and install dedicated usb 3.0 host card with independant channels and use jminer cpu to count everything. It's an kabylake i5. Is gpu jminer that much faster? I'm ok with a 90-120 second 250tb plot read if i can use i5 with usb expansion card.
- Whats the read time you really have to stay under for good results? block time is like 4 min. Is there a rule of thumb for like 90 seconds being the max or something for good results?
- I bought a gtx 1070 for each miner thinking i would do jminer gpu or zcash mining at the end. Should i send it back and just use one of my rx470 nitro+ 8gb for plotting? Is the rx470 just as fast as 1070 for plotting or close?
Please don't make me disassemble and send a lot of parts back. lol. I have 4 burstminers built already. Would really just like to plot with gpu. take it out at the end. put in usb expansion host card. Use i5 to jminer or other fast cpu miner to count plots. As always. Thanks for the help guys. Looking to have knowledgeable person on retainer that i'm willing to pay in any crypto for advice.. Already have a petabyte of those crappy seagate drives. And time is money with these things of course. So paying someone a little means nothing to me. And i love helping the community. Been mining for 4 years. Have a eth hash rate of 1000mh at this time. Just really love burstcoin. Been mining it for over a year. but 50tb server is no problem. half a peta... well. Should have looked into this stuff first.

RE: Updates on my Half a petaposted in Mining & Plotting
@rds Thank you so much. That was the formula i was looking for. I just tried your number. And my usuage is now 24gb of ram of my 32gb. That just might do the trick. i think i've also heard once i optimize these drives the memory usage will also be reduced.

RE: HighRoller Pool - The Pool for **BIG** Miners.posted in Pool Announcements
@iKnow0 Ohh i see. I just took a look at pool setup. Still looks like a lot of work. I'd rather pay small fee to pool mine. Or solo. i just need to take a min to figure out solo setup.

RE: Filled up half a PetaByte. Now What?posted in Mining & Plotting
@sevencardz Damn. Didn't even think about just unplugging a few drives from each row. Simple bottlekneck check. I'm getting 650mb/s with 7 drives per hub. I tried just 3 drives per hub. Same exact result actually. Something is bottleknecking me some. My gtx 1070 only gets 20 percent usuage or less when jminer counting.
A hub can handle at least 5 drives without a bottlekneck -
RE: Filled up half a PetaByte. Now What?posted in Mining & Plotting
@illuminatus excuse me. Do you have a half peta setup. And no. Your wrong. If I plotted optimized plots off the bat. I only get 5000 nounces because they are SMR drives. Instead. I can buffer two drives at once and get 28000 nounces per drive. So for me to be able to fill up half a Peta in under 2 weeks. So I can start mining right away. I still get read times of 90 seconds with un optimized plots. Which is still pretty decent. Don't make me get my homies to back me up. Maybe do your research before insulting people.

@Garbear What cpu and ram do you have?
-
RE: Filled up half a PetaByte. Now What?posted in Mining & Plotting
@Garbear Yeah. Those are way better speeds. I think my limitation right now is my hubs.. But you do understand how costly and how much more of a mess it is to have 4 drives per hub when you have this many hard drives. I think optimizing my drives might give me a read speed of like 700mb/s which i'd be happy with

Filled up half a PetaByte. Now What?posted in Mining & Plotting
This thread is all about optimizing drives
My plots went well. I filled up half a Petabyte in 10 days.
Current Stats:
250tb per machine with average read of 500mb averaging 120 seconds
After optimizing i expect around 90 seconds or slightly lower.Would these things help my count speeds
- Switching from Kaby i5 to Kaby i7? And if so. K or not to K.
- upgrading from 16gb to 32gb of ram?
My Gtx 1070 only gets 30 percent usuage with Jminer. Don't know if that's normal. Average read of 500mb
I also get 95-100 cpu usuage during Jminer count While only 20-30 percent on gtx1070. I thought this thing was a gpu counter. How can i better utilize my gtx 1070?
Using 5x 7Port 3.0 Hubs. Each hub running off of a dedicated usb controller. (5 controllers total)
I hit the system ram ceiling pretty quickly. Adjusting chunks gets that down some. That's where i'm at with this bigger setup. Never had to worry about these things with my 50tb burst server i've been running for a year.
Now that they are full. Time to Optimize. Used command line for that a year ago. Here are some questions for Optimizations.
- Does using more system ram to optimize help me in any way. Using 4gb now.
- I'm on my first optimization on this setup. It's calling for 50 hours or so for 1 8tb drive. How can i better improve those speeds. I7? 32gb ram?
- Is the command line optimizer better in any way? More accurate timer or anything?
I appreciate any and all help. Def willing to share some information in return.

RE: My 1/2 PetaByteposted in System Builds and other hardware stuff.
@vaxman @gpedro Very helpful guys. I was already going to optimize of course. There was never a thought that i wasn't. I was just saying i just now got my drives buffered. And no. I can't write direct. It's 4 times slower. there is an explanation if you want it.
It's nice to see all the math tho. Thanks for that. I'm still filling up drives. About 80tb a day at this point. I'll be ready to throw the petabyte online within the next week. Then as it's mining optimize the drives over the course of another month.

RE: Help Chuck Norris. Plots fail at the end of plotting.posted in Help & Support
Sorry everyone. Have been filling up 80tb's a day. Finally got a breather. I figured out what was going on with the failing plots.
I would run the bat i would test the speeds. Make the tweaks and what not. Get her dialed in. Then delete the plot files out of the folders. Well... This is my old theory and now same theory. It's happened in the past. Whenever it's writing a plot file. If you close it as it's writing or just running i don't know which. It leaves something in like a cache form on the drive. So when it's filling it up. It ends up being short because the invisible cache is there. I diskpart clean the drives when i first install them. And if i fail a plot or am testing. MAKE SURE i FORMAT before i write the official plot.
Answer me this. I read somewhere a long time ago something about setting the default allocation size i think when formatting has some effect on something?! Puzzle Face.

RE: Advanced Setups only 250tb+posted in Mining & Plotting
@rds Yeah. Thanks for the confirmation. I figured as much. Just making sure it. Never could get a straight answer on that one. When your setting up 100+ drives. So much easier to just say. Drive 35 starts with 3500000000 etc.
HiDevin. I don't write direct because it seems to be 4 times slower. I've tried many different ways with many different cards. I end up with 6000 nounces per drive or so. I think my best bet is to buffer them all. And then start mining. Then optimize over the course of a month or so.

RE: My 1/2 PetaByteposted in System Builds and other hardware stuff.
@kmaxkmax How could i have somebody invest in it? And i'm pretty sure i'm a burst hog. So i don't see much of an incentive to have someone invest in it when it's already paid for. I can't tell if your joking. lol

RE: Need to bounce ideas off people for my petabyte setup.posted in Mining & Plotting
Killer response gpedro. Gotta at least tip you 1k burst.

I think you hit a point i was going to ask. Can i plot using my gpu and also move/optimize a different plot with my cpu at the same time?! so gpu plot to drive 1. drive 2 is already done plotting. move plot from drive 2 to drive 3 with optimizer using cpu while drive 1 is getting plotted?!
-
is gpu jminer really needed for 250tb per rig. Or would an i7 count fast enough with optimized plots?
if that's the case. What's the best/fastest cpu counter? sorry. i call it drive counting as to not confuse people. -
In xplotter and jminer. my cpu doesn't shop up as a device. if i use 1 to show devices under setup. It shows just my gpu. why doesn't the onboard cpu show up. On my other rig it does. Is it because of kaby lake or z200 series chipset? or is bc the motherboard over rides and gives priority to pcie lane with gpu and shuts off cpu graphics? change onboard bios settings to multimonitor or something? or install intel hd graphics driver? even in my device manager no other display adapters listed other than gtx 1070. Just noticed all of this.
