Ethereum miner + burst coin

  • Hi!

    This is great and sustainable coin I am really interested in mining this coin.

    I have a few questions that come to mind.

    1- In terms of CPU and RAM what are the best practices?
    2- Does it make a difference if I use SSD or local HDD or USB 2.0 or USB 3.0

    thanks!

    @myminerep :

    The more RAM the better, Windows 10 seems to be best, other than a server version of Windows.
    CPU will depend on whether you're mining/plotting with CPU or GPU. If CPU the bigger the better, if GPU - and it doesn't have to be particularly powerful - CPU doesn't matter.

    SSD will be fastest, but capacity trumps speed. USB 2/3 are both fine for mining.

  • Thank you much for the reply!

    I've just set up 2 ethereum rigs and now looking to expand the same rigs to mine Burst.

    Time to buy some cheap hard drives and test burst out!

    I love the idea of mining with low cost electrical bills. Very green, thats a good marketing idea ;)

    Cheers!

    @myminerep You can run rigs doing both Eth and Burst (I have a couple of them), but the Eth mining will impact the Burst mining if you use the GPU miner. One of my primary miners can do 60GB in 22 seconds using jMiner. However, if it's also Eth mining those same 60GB take 115 seconds instead - and no tinkering with priorities will fix it. The average time for a Burst round is 4 minutes, so for me, just under 2 minutes is acceptable, but it's possible I've missed some blocks because of it.
