Beginner Mining Questions, Please Help!

Hi All,
I just started mining about a day ago on pool.burstcoin.ml with just over a terabyte of mining power. Mining is all good, but I'm a little confused as to what shares are. How do those correlate with actual burstcoin? If say, for all round shares, I have 50 shares, do those equal 50 burstcoin? Thanks in advanced.
