Re: Blocking pools with trash pretty pathetic really.

I am being hit with ddos and lots of requests to drop the pool. It is someone in burst!
-
@tross I should post my logs of what I'm getting hit with. However it's only slowing me down, no longer knocking me offline, so I'm hoping they'll give up soon.
-
A real ddos wont knock me off it legit data that is being overly sent but now making a firewall to block it.
-
@tross The proxies are getting a huge volume of "legitimate" wallet requests, but why would a real node request "getmininginfo" 10 times/second ? The firewall is getting hit with a barrage of random traffic, and the get requests for the wallet DB are still running at 5-10 requests/sec.
I don't know what the assholes behind this are attempting to accomplish, they're no longer crippling me, they're just an annoyance. I don't see why another coin community would do this, so suspect it's coming from another part of our community wanting us to shutdown.
-
@haitch , regarding 'getmining info' 10 times a second, I will say the reason I left ccminer a few days ago was that my jminer was reporting 'getminerinfo' failed over and over, usually after a round was completed, but not always. Possibly , as the server gets bogged down, more and more legitimate miners exacerbate the "attack"?
-
@rds A legitimate miner will request at most once/second, these are 10/sec from multiple addresses all over the world - hundreds of requests/sec. It's not legitimate traffic.
-
@haitch , yes mine was probably 1/sec.
