Word of advice on the Seagates, avoid them. They consistently fail. In our environment (work) we have (had) 256 of them in our array. They have been in service for 186 days and over 40% of them have crashed. Instead of getting the warranty on them we were able to return them and instead purchased Western Digital drives. To date we are still losing seagates and have had no issue with the WD's. It sounds all good, but you get what you pay for. And then think of all the time you put into plotting etc...
And yes this happens on enterprise drives as well as consumer end.

@ProSportsPhotog That been my experience as well - the only drives I've had fail mining have been Seagates or refurbs. Everything else just keeps on spinning ....

I recently tried to buy a 8TB drive through Newegg using bitcoin. Somehow the amount wasn't enough and now the money is in limbo until their accounting dept can release the funds back to me. I bought another one but still frustrated.

its funny how things change, i just retired several seagate drives with well over 10 years of 24 hour a day use ,on them, in past wd was crap, looks like seagate had a bad design run several years back.... and hasn't quite recovered.

WD 8TB Red Drives - $10 off at NewEgg with code: HDWRE614F
Valid for another 10 hours.

@haitch Do you see any issues if I install this setup with the 8TB's?
-
@socalguy If you're installing it into your PC, no problem, but for an external solution, I use these: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816111455&cm_re=sans_digital--16-111-455--Product
Ignore the max capacity in the specs, I've run it with 4 * 8TB
