Best way to set up a 1 PB Farm?

  • I don't actually have 1 PB worth of hard drives, but if I did, what would be the best way to set it up?

My main question regarding it is if buying a few SATA expansion bay enclosures and filling them with internal drives would be better than just buying a bunch of external drives. Buying all externals sounds cheaper, but SATA bays sound more efficient.

Also, could it all be hooked up to just 1 computer?

  • The best way to set it up and do it all within a reasonable timeframe:

1: Buy 5 computers with Rayzen CPUs and 580RX GPUs

2: Connect 24x8tb external drives to each computer. With the hardware you can plot a dozen TBs of optimized plots per day

3: When plotting is done sell of CPUs and put weaker ones in your Burst miners. Put GPUs in mining rigs for other coins.

You bottle neck will be the plotting. You have to have several really good computers to plot that much within a reasonable timeframe. The whole project will occupy ALOT of real life space, expect a whole room. Produce alot of heat and noise.

As for ROI its pretty hard to speculate.

  • @Casse Could you just plot the drives on your main computer with a GPU, and then move them over to the new computer that's just for burst?

  • @xenomorph sure

Looks like your connection to Burst - Efficient HDD Mining was lost, please wait while we try to reconnect.
