GPU plotting takes forever
-
So I recently got this external hard drive (usb3.0) and I am writing nonces to it however its taking realy long, its writing at a speed of 2800 nonces a minute and I feel like it should go faster. I also tried the CPU plotter becase my cpu is more powerfull then my gpu however the cpu stops writing nonces after a minute. I am using a GTX 840m for this proces and my settings are
0 1 4096 128 8192and
gpuPlotGenerator generate buffer F://plots/13745580789275686790_1600000_10200000_20000 pauseSo maybe I am doing something wrong becase the estimated time of finish is about 2 days and the CPU plot generator gets stuck at 0% so thats not realy an option.

you try to plot 2,5 Tb?
how many RAM?
-
arround 5gb ram I am trying to use, for a total plot of 3.6 tb
-
@theapple0 maybe provide a screen of your plotting
-
It also seems like its using my GPU of my CPU intel 4000hd but when I try to do it to the gtx it crashes and says it doesnt support openCL
-
-
hmmmm my gpu seems to work but now it says there is an error in the script
[ERROR][-36][CL_INVALID_COMMAND_QUEUE] Error in step2 kernel finish

the size must be a multiple of stagger ... 10200000 can not be divided by 1024
monitor you memory while plotting, e.g. use https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/processexplorer.aspx
find the best size for your stagger, maybe 3/4 of available memory.the plotter will create the plotfile in parts, every part has the size of stagger ... so the 2nd last number always has to be dividable by the last.

Well I finaly figured it out...... turns out the format on the harddrive is fat32 which allows only up to 4gb a file....... I'll change it now and then I will report back again
