Taking 80 seconds to read plots?
-
Hey there guys I got a Seagate External 5tb drive last week. After doing a bit of looking around I noticed that my drives are taking extremely long to read compared to several other users. It has been taking about 80 seconds to read all the plots on this drive.
Is this abnormal?
Any suggestions to increase the speed at which the drives are read at?Thanks, any information is appreciated.

How did you plot the drives? Did you plot them via CPU or GPU? If GPU, did you use buffer (unoptimized) or direct (optimized). Are you running it via a USB 3.0 controller on your computer?

The drive was plotted using the GPU Plotter on buffer.
And no I don't believe its USB 3.0 :/ @Vneck

You need make optimization (need the same free space) or replot it in direct mode with GPU or replot using XPlotter (CPU)

@Eq said in Taking 80 seconds to read plots?:

And no I don't believe its USB 3.0 :/ @VneckAh that's it. Yes, you need to optimize the plots. You can run the plotsoptimizer program to optimize the plots, pending extra harddrive space, or you can re-plot using the GPU with Direct or the Xplotter like @haitch mentioned.

Alright, awesome thanks guys!
Will definitely be working on optimizing all my plots over the next few days :)@Blago said in Taking 80 seconds to read plots?:

@Eq If it does not have usb 3.0 the reading time will improve when optimizing, but neither is a great improvement.
I also used a pc and something old and with the optimized plots on my 5 TB hard drive it took 60 seconds to read it for not having usb 3.0, so I finally disassemble it and use it as an internal disk and then read it in 30 seconds
