Newb Stuff

Hello! I'm new to mining and cryptocurrency stuff. I've been reading up on in it and i think i understand the basics. I've got everything installed and running, but am wondering what kind of results i can get. I have an extra 4TB HDD (50gb which is plotted atm as a test run). What amount of burst coins could i expect to get (which probably also depends on the pool, i'm assuming).

You can check this calculator to see how much you are going to earn.
You can also read a few Mining 101s to see how you can improve how much you earn and get an overview of the pools.

okay, so looks like i'll be earning between $2.67 (with 2.4tb as the current free space) and $4.44 a month in burst at the current rate.
And if my math is right, every extra 2tb gets you roughly 10,000 burst. Does the cpu, gpu, or rpm speed on the hdd have a large effect? I'm wondering if performance will suffer if i throw the drive(s) on an old dell or a raspberry pi.

As I have written in my 101, yes they do, but it is only a minimal impact. You are only reading ~0.025% of the plots every round so any speed from higher rpm drive won't have any big impact. The CPU and GPU has a role, but you are safe mining with an old dell as you only need a little bit of work to read the plots. (You can mine on a raspberry pi, but there isn't any documentation and some of us have tried without luck).
