First Annual Node Drive
-
Alright! Lol I didn't realize how many people actually had nodes going lol. This is great!
-
I've got one running in a VM on my desktop at the moment as a test server for a Burst project I've got in mind. Will be moving it to a Rackspace virtual machine in a few weeks - or hopefully sooner if I can finish it sooner.
-
@DougLife yes all thats needed is a linux distro and then the Burst wallet, as for a tutorial to setup a wallet on a RPi I don't know if one exists but I am sure someone (maybe @dawallet) could post a how-to or maybe even I will after I play with them and set them up
-
Count another node here! Always on...
-
@socal I'm in with 3 RPIs and 6 different systems.
-
Prolly 16 hours out of the day. Backup my db daily also just in case (config file also). Archive for as long as I think is needed.
-
Will switch my pc (full-time) to local wallet and will do the same on my laptop (part-time^^)
-
I already have one machine running the local wallet full time and could start it on another. Does it matter if they're on the same network?
-
I've been running the local wallet 24/7 on one of my servers for about a month now. That way my password never leaves my LAN! :) Setting up an extra node on an RPi sounds fun, and I have a few sitting around. I'm putting it on my to-do list.
-
Nope same network is fine but just know that if your network goes down all of your nodes will be down
-
Then that is the motivation to sort out the local wallet on my 24/7 rig. Also if one of the smart guys do a dummy linux "how to set up RPi B wallet" I am in.I could always use few assets and help the network:)
-
I'll have one running on my mining rig shortly. What kind of system resources are required for a node? I figure if a RPi can run one I can too, even with 4gb of ram and a two core cpu. Is it just mining that would take additional resources vs just providing more peers for the network?
-
@TimboSlice your biggest usage while running a node is gonna be bandwidth so if you have low bandwidth caps I don't suggest running a node. As far as system resources a RPi is plenty powerful enough to be a node but the CPU in it isn't strong enough to make mining feasible.
-
wallet is finally fully sync and running 24/7 now
-
I run two locals on the same machine so I guess you can use the same network.
-
Another newb question here - do we have to be logged into the wallet to act as a node? I notice in the new version it gives sync status even without entering a wallet.
