Burstnation & Network situation & Local Wallets

  • Its all about marketing. People are getting free coins, they look to see who its from: xxx.xxxxx.com(not typing it out) Making it Rain
Oh I should check that out. It gives them web hits, and they funnel the traffic to other sources other than just burstnation, in particular the burst casino. Its like herding sheep.

  • 4 confirmations (and 4 hours laster) the first "Making it rain" of the day is still trying to confirm, meanwhile, the blockchain has slowed to a crawl, and not just for me. I would imagine there will be at least 3 or 4 more today if not more.

  • Yeah I understand that promo/marketing part...I just thought there was a more direct inference of how they were making $ and hurting others.

Regardless of burstnation...if this kind of thing is a challenge what is going to be done to address it so the BURST network runs smoother in the future?

  • For me, the takeaway from this spam (and I use the word loosely) is that the Burst network isn't yet ready for primetime. Whether that's a lack of horsepower in nodes or something that could be improved in the protocol or consensus rules, if one node can slow down the network we should be thinking about how to improve the network. Sure, blame the node, but by highlighting network issues they're doing us all a favor.

Is there a formal thread here on Burst improvement / development in light of network congestion?

edit: just checked a Node.js script I have running that polls the Burst API and at one point today my node had 5463 unconfirmed transactions waiting.

  • @FlippyCakes That is right. The only positive thing from this rain is the vulnerability that is now visible. But the thing is Adam is well aware of the consequences of this spamming and he still does it. He is just selfish prick.

  • At this point he is well aware of his actions and has crossed the line... He needs to work towards finding a solution rather than trying to bring more traffic to his copy/paste site.

I compare this to a white hat vs black hat "hacker".... A white hat will attempt to break something and once there is a realization that something has happened he will stop his actions, find a fix and have it applied. Black hat will find a way to break it and then abuse the flaw....

It's not hard to figure out what type of person he is just by checking out his YT channel... After all, he was sued to the tune of $873 million for hacking and spamming FB accounts and acted like he was just your average affiliate marketer... Old habits die hard....

IMO, you are 100% correct, my exact thoughts, I just didn't write them on here. The problem is, the person doing it, is doing it to make money and there really isn't a way to fix it, without a mass amount of new nodes, which will help propagate the transactions quicker.

  • Exactly, he is only "affiliate marketing" until this opportunity dries up and he will move onto the next...

If he really wanted to attempt to fix this, he could maybe offer "rain" to people that set up multiple nodes to help ease the congestion? He could use that money he is throwing around to purchase hundreds of raspi's and set up the nodes himself?

In the end the only thing he is able to see is the money falling into his pockets...

  • Wow and there is now a new video, basically saying "blame it on the rain"? Like this is a good thing? I'm done with this crap.

  • @tomahawkeer That video was pointless... but you're right, I'm over it as well. He is probably one of the worst things to happen to this coin and its unfortunate...

  • Nice comment someone just posted on the video, lol...

  • @Snoops It was deleted quickly... :)

  • Wish I could have seen it. I'm sure mine will have the same fate.

  • @DougLife Still there...but will disapear:)

And the othet thing is...have you noticed how many people are stupid enough to be happy from these few pennies. It is basically destroying the coin for fractions of dollar.Sad ..really sad.

  • Well, coincidentally today someone posted a comment on another instance about alt coin price movements and coin control. I couldn't avoid making the connection instantly! It seems it is something common in this new universe, perhaps we have get use to this, and the rain will stop at some point I hope... in the mean time some are happy to receive some pennies and the network suffers from overload "I am God" type of transactions...

"There's a dark underbelly to most alt coin price movements, perhaps all. They are all run by whales. I think of alt coin markets as whale farms. It's a business, if you can get control of a coin, whether it be buying the ICO at large quantities or other means, and if you have enough BTC backing, you can move the price up and down at will, each wave you're farming the weak hands like a tidal power plant. MAID and DASH is no different. If I was to take a stab, I'd say around ~$1.5b marketcap is where this stops. Bitcoin Uncensored did an interview with a BTC loan shark guy that controlled BTC price back in around 2012 when it was small. I really does screw with our natural notion that we can look at fundamentals of a project and say this is the fair market price. And even if there weren't whales, and markets were rational, bear in mind we already have an accepted way to value these kinds of projects... It's in the startup world where early stage investors just say "this shit is so speculative, we don't know what it's worth, just give me a discount on what the value will be if you get to a point of traction and get a VC valuation". In other words they put off valuation until utility is achieved, and there's a real growth curve, something real to do a valuation."

You're doing a great job destroying the Burst community with the shit rain and the garbage forum. You think you've done a good job but the network is worse than ever, I respect crow but you i do not, You're a useless prick full of bullshit and greed, nothing more. Go crawl back under you rock.

  • I don't even know how to comment that.

I started to be interested in this mainly because awesome community that have been here. This "Rain Cvnt" is dividing us and it is starting to be frustrating.

  • This post is deleted!

  • Apparently now he feels he is "MisterMidas" as well... "everything I do since day one cause burst to grow in value".... how is anything he has done caused it to grow in value? Showed 'get rich quick kiddies' how to gamble on dice? Don't see the connection, but I bet he got a lot of affiliates....

I think he meant to say "everything I have done surrounding burst has put a little bit of extra money in my pocket from idiots who follow me hoping I shower them with few pennies a day"
