Burstnation & Network situation & Local Wallets

@rds I am talking here about the 1.2.8 beta which should not be used in production. Only testing.
-
ok, is @vexact a tester? The impression I got from the post above, he was using it to do his thing.
-
biz is forked....go figure
-
This is probably what was happening to me, I only have 10TB but was pulling a block every 2-3 days, for just over a month now i have managed to only pull 2, That is a HUGE drop and yes i know the network may have increased a lot but it should not just drop off like that. I'm on the .biz pool FYI.
-
@Snoops yeah I moved my miners off....and its already started to look better for both of them. I don't think the network traffic flood helped either, but ill keep my miners where they are now unless something changes there.
-
And there it goes with "Rain" again. Be prepared to have issues with shit the rest of the day.
-
Well I think its better to find out that the Chains isn't ready for this kind of transactions instead of when Burst is big and we have this amount (or even more) transactions 24/7
-
@Menaxerius Yes but we have found out now. Why not call a truce and when the Dev's have made some improvments, turn the tap back on?

The point is, when you find a problem, you fix it. You don't use it as an EXPLOIT to profit, which is exactly what burst nation is doing!
-
Who can stop this annoying burst rain. I really cant take any more... The moment I needed most the transactions are stuck, Cant even increase the fee because its a reward assignment type
-
@sleepy well you might need some medicine for that ;) https://forums.burst-team.us/topic/3969/reward-assigment-mod Morpheus awaits...

Its pretty simple if you ask me. He will eventually run out of coins. In the mean time, don't support that other site or the casino, or the pool affiliated with them. Pretty simple to me!
-
This may be ignorance on my level, but how does him sending coins to users help his pools profit? I would think that if it is clogging the network it would have the same effect on any pool?
Just trying to get a more clear picture for myself since I don't know that much about the inner workings of crypto.
-
Nowhere these kind of things are called "Great", "Rain" or other cute words, they call it spam. The problem there is no clear solution for this kind of stuff except vocal userbase if attacker is known entity. While increasing block size would help it wouldnt solve this weakness in network, so pretty much every coin has it :)

Agree, how are they profiting from this. Just not following?
-
@burst1 I do not know but even if I knew I would not say it in public so that anyone can use it.
I suppose if there is someone who knows how this is going to be worked on, or so I hope, and I do not think I will say it in public

Its all about marketing. People are getting free coins, they look to see who its from: xxx.xxxxx.com(not typing it out) Making it Rain
Oh I should check that out. It gives them web hits, and they funnel the traffic to other sources other than just burstnation, in particular the burst casino. Its like herding sheep.
-
4 confirmations (and 4 hours laster) the first "Making it rain" of the day is still trying to confirm, meanwhile, the blockchain has slowed to a crawl, and not just for me. I would imagine there will be at least 3 or 4 more today if not more.
-
Yeah I understand that promo/marketing part...I just thought there was a more direct inference of how they were making $ and hurting others.
Regardless of burstnation...if this kind of thing is a challenge what is going to be done to address it so the BURST network runs smoother in the future?
-
For me, the takeaway from this spam (and I use the word loosely) is that the Burst network isn't yet ready for primetime. Whether that's a lack of horsepower in nodes or something that could be improved in the protocol or consensus rules, if one node can slow down the network we should be thinking about how to improve the network. Sure, blame the node, but by highlighting network issues they're doing us all a favor.
Is there a formal thread here on Burst improvement / development in light of network congestion?
edit: just checked a Node.js script I have running that polls the Burst API and at one point today my node had 5463 unconfirmed transactions waiting.
