SSHD are best for mining - Is this right
-
SSHD cache the frequently accessed data, so guess its best for Burst mining
-
@tpriyan - In terms of performance an SSD would be better than a HDD, but the price/capacity is not worth it and the same data is not repeatedly accessed so cache won't help. Each round targets 1 of 4096 scoops, so every round you're reading different parts of the disk.
-
@tpriyan
Cache will not help on mining. A Plotfile contains 4096 scoops, only one scoop is read for mining per block. But it is always another scoop. So data in cache can not be used for next block.
-
that makes things clear :)
Sorry for this dumb question..
what determines which out of 4096 scoop need to be read
-
@luxe so is each scoop like a 4096th of a nounce making it only 64 bytes?
-
That is correct ...
https://github.com/BurstProject/pocminer/blob/master/src/pocminer/util/MiningPlot.javapublic static int HASH_SIZE = 32; public static int HASHES_PER_SCOOP = 2; public static int SCOOP_SIZE = HASHES_PER_SCOOP * HASH_SIZE;
