[ANN] SocalsFarm (Mining Asset) 50% Investor Insurance

  • @Dillion do not worry GPU mining is not a primary or even secondary concern. Basically if the PCIe slots are open and if the money is there then why not drop in a few decent cards but that will be after all HDD bays are filled etc.

Also to optimize the rig to parallel CPU mine (believe it or not there's a fairly profitable CPU only coin) all I would have to change is the CPU/MoBo which would have zero impact on Burst mining since I'd be trading in the Ryzen 7 for dual Xenon E5-2670s

  • The reason I didn't do that with this build is because the other CPU/MoBo combo is refurbished and I'd rather that the majority of the assets current capacity be relying on new parts instead of used parts but the next box I build will probably be the dual Xenon setup

  • Hey all, here is a link for a pic of the incomplete miner. http://m.imgur.com/HFouQpt

I am short a few SATA cables so only 4 HDDs will be hooked up right now with the others coming online in a few days when I get the other SATA cables. I'll update again once the build is finished and I crank this bad boy on

Now to install an OS and start this bad boy plotting

  • This post is deleted!

  • Ok all OS is installed and I am now plotting the first drive. I can feel the power lol I'm already plotting twice as fast as my poor laptop.

  • Hey everyone just another update, I now have the miner built and operational, I have started the process of plotting 48TB so please give me some time to get it 100% up and running.

  • Good job with the frequent updates. That's exactly the way to do things man, great work.

  • @crowetic thank you, I told you from day one that I meant well, just glad to know I'm proving it

  • Hey all just paid this week's dividend, while it seemed slightly light don't worry, we have over 1100 Burst queued to be paid from the pool, it was just getting late and I didn't want any investors to have to wait longer for no good reason so obviously when that 1100 from mining gets paid to the asset account it will be added to next week's dividend

  • Another rig update:

We are plotting at an average rate of 8TB every 39 hours.

  • As surprising as this is there are only 54 unique investors in my asset. With this being said I am seeing 3-6 new investors every week, let's try and step up distribution everyone!!! Tell your friends about this asset while there are cheap sells posted on the AE.

The more investors we get the more the asset can grow and we all profit.

  • So the new CPU has been Overclocked from 3.4Ghz to 3.8Ghz and is plotting at 22,000 nonces/min. When it finishes plotting the 8TB HDD it is currently plotting I will be further overclock the CPU to 4.0Ghz. The CPU is stable and temps are far below max at 3.8Ghz and I am confident that the CPU can handle 4.0Ghz. after the Overclock adjustment I will report on how big of a plot speed boost we receive.

NOTE: Cooling is NOT an issue as the CPU has one of the most efficient Air cooling systems (Cooler Master Hyper T4) with high performance thermal compound (Artic Silver 5) and the case has another 8 built in fans

  • Trust me everyone, I did not buy cheap or substandard components for our flagship mining machine.

  • Hubris got the best of me last night. I figured with our shiny new miner I could just go ahead and plot each 8TB HDD in one plot and the plotter was at 87% complete when I went to bed. Well automatic update fucked me and restarted the computer sometime between 87% and 99% and ruined the plot!!!! Anyway I have restarted the plotting, but this time in 2TB chunks

  • @socal Had same thing 2 months ago^^ Automatic updates are so annoying :P

  • You can disable them in services, or if you are using wireless you can tell windows you're on a metered connection. They don't download and install automatically if you do either of these steps. These updates were a nuisance before I did this.

  • Well everyone good news / bad news time:

Bad News: the 2TB Toshiba external HDD has gone out. I am going to tinker with it and see if it's recoverable or if it's DOA, either way for now we are down 1.5TB or so of mining capacity

Good News: I have the first 4TB of the first new HDD plotted and mining with another 2TB coming online late tonight.

    Mining Capacities:

    Current Capacity - 22.5TB

    Max Capacity - 68TB

    Unplotted Capacity - 44TB

    Inactive Capacity - 2TB

  • Ok all another Update:

I now have one of the 8TB HDDs plotted and working on the second one now.

The 2TB external drive was recoverable but it's going to fail sooner rather than later so just be expecting a full failure from the 2TB.

  • Another update:

First New HDD has been plotted, second drive is halfway done. Four more drives to go!!!!
