@socal see i was thinking of nicehash as well..
i can get a decent little gaming PC on monthly payments so i was think eh why not...
-
@haitch oh nice... so the GPU doesnt speed up Burst mining at all then?
-
@falconCoin GPU can speed it up, but there is a capacity threshold you need to pass for GPU to be faster than CPU. For my dual mining machines, nicehash runs at low priority, and the miner at high priority - that way the additional mining has minimal impact on Burst mining.
-
#1 if you have never done it , do a lot of research first. most people think just throw some high end GFX card in and off you go... wile its a peace of cake to add HDD's for burst mining to an existing GPU rig going the other way depending on your setup can requier a complet rig rebuild... assuming you have cheep electric in your area.. #1 is cooling is a MUST most GPU rigs need x2 more cooling than an average computer even if it seems to be ok . running a rig at 100% even a little over normal temp's will cause things to fail much faster.. #2 90% of average computers do not have a PSU that can handle the load of 4,5,6, or even 7 high end GPU cards plan on replacing that as well. invest in a Jig or get some lumber if your handy multi cards will not fit inside a regular case and need to be hooked up via powered riser cables on the + that makes cooling a little more easy. last .. as with ASIC's you need high end GPU's to be profitable ... even top modles from 2 years ago will eat your profits up in electric.. there are lots of nice charts online you can google to see hashing power of various cards best bet would be to check the top 5 or 6 models compare price and compare how much electric it uses to find the current sweet spot.

yeah i been watching youtube videos on rigs.
if the GPU even speeds it up some and helps out and i have monthly payments i am good with that! and i am guessing it will plot faster? no?
-
@falconCoin GPU can plot as fast or faster than high end CPU rigs, but I've got GPU plotted files that may be corrupt. As a result I now only use xplotter, but it's a very high end rig, to be able to match a generic GPU.
-
@haitch thanks for info i may just stick to a regular PC for now and more HDD's im scooping some up tomorrow
-
couldn't wait grabbed (2) 4 Tb drives just now... now i need to get that Linux box set up for Burst, my project for tomorrow! lol
-
The build I am making can easily handle the requirements for GPU mining the case itself has 8 built in fans and I am getting a 1000w PSU
-
Hmmmmmm I'm thinking I could switch out the CPU/MoBo for a Dual slot mobo with Xenon E5-2670s for the same price. This would give us 16 cores to also mine Verium which is a CPU only cryptocurrency from the Vericoin devs, it's still GPU and ASIC proof so raw CPU power is the only way to mine it. VRM is currently worth about $0.80/per
-
Actually since this will be the "C&C" box I will keep the new parts because going the Dual Xenon route requires getting refurbished parts and I'd rather not have 75% of the assets capacity dependant upon sub standard parts.
I might do it with following expansions since I'll be able to keep at least 140TB up if the refurbished parts fail (which is how much we will have by the time I build another box)
-
Ahhhh damnit! The money just became available and they restricted the number of drives I can get I now have to get more of the more expensive drives
-
Ok everyone I have everything ready to be ordered I'm going with the new parts and I dropped the SATA controller card and 2 extra drives (was going to get 8 but now just 6) and I'm going to wait for more of the cheaper drives to become available and then I will order the other 2 HDDs and SATA Controller
If nobody objects by around 10am (8ish hours) I will put in the order for the parts.
-
Ok all parts have been ordered. Now to wait for them to get here.
-
I dunno about you guys but I am excited. The Asset is getting a 300% capacity increase, plus the ability to parallel mine other coins along with Burst
-
With recent events we have pretty much learned that if Burst continues to grow the burst mining assets are much better off. Your asset is perfect example as your value rose eminsly over the last couple weeks and now we get all these goodies. If the asset cpu can mine other coin at same time in order to spice up dividends that great but I'd hate to see the asset start investing in GPU mining. Because I am long on burst and think that the burstcoin mining assets will be much more valuable in the future.plus when burst rise and the GPU mining assets start to fall by near 100% like we just seen this asset should hold up and become more valuable. Their Should be two other burst mining assets to use as examples here however they are extremely poorly managed and we're unable to hold up during the sell off. Imo because of management doing things like under cutting all sell orders to issue new assets as quickly as possible. I believe if these managers hadn't of done that during the great sell off their share prices would've held up.
-
@Dillion do not worry GPU mining is not a primary or even secondary concern. Basically if the PCIe slots are open and if the money is there then why not drop in a few decent cards but that will be after all HDD bays are filled etc.
Also to optimize the rig to parallel CPU mine (believe it or not there's a fairly profitable CPU only coin) all I would have to change is the CPU/MoBo which would have zero impact on Burst mining since I'd be trading in the Ryzen 7 for dual Xenon E5-2670s
-
The reason I didn't do that with this build is because the other CPU/MoBo combo is refurbished and I'd rather that the majority of the assets current capacity be relying on new parts instead of used parts but the next box I build will probably be the dual Xenon setup

Hey all, here is a link for a pic of the incomplete miner. http://m.imgur.com/HFouQpt
I am short a few SATA cables so only 4 HDDs will be hooked up right now with the others coming online in a few days when I get the other SATA cables. I'll update again once the build is finished and I crank this bad boy on
