New to burst faucet question
-
Hi
I'm new to burst and am excited to get started. One quick question, I clicked on faucet and put in my burst address and claimed 5 burst. But it's now showing up in my wallet balance. Any idea how long it takes. I am also still downloading the blockchain.
Many Thanks

Welcome :)
You need the entire blockchain to be downloaded to see your balance. Alternatively you can view your balance in online wallet.

@ResidualFreedom it will be shown when blockchain synced fully.
The internal sync is a bit slow, you can download the zipped blockchain and reduce the waiting to sync time drastically.
Here is the latest blockchain: http://db.burst-team.us/

@tpriyan Thank You
-
@moonjeina Ok thank you, will download the blockchain.

Ok, I just downloaded the blockchain that you gave, unzipped it, but now what? How do I move it into my burst wallet? I'm sorry if this is a dumb question. I downloaded the wallet almost a week ago and my blockchain download had been stuck at the halfway mark for days. I'd really like to start mining but I'm kind of at a loss, no doubt in part due to my lack of knowledge.
Thanks!

@ag472016 what OS do you use? Windows?

@ag472016
Go to your local wallet directory and find burst_db and throw the unzipped blockchain in there.

Ok lets presume you are using Windows OS and have the wallet shortcut on desktop.
I'll write step by step.- Download the recent blockchain from db.burst-team.us
- Unzip it somewhere (preferably unzip directly to desktop)
- Exit the wallet software completely.
- Right click the Burst Wallet icon, then click "Open containing folder" (or whatever it means on your OS language)
- Open the folder named "burst_db". You will see 3 files in there. "burst.h2", "burst.lock", "burst.trace".
- Copy the "burst.h2" file that you unzipped to desktop, then paste it "into the burst_db folder"
- Click "replace the files" if your OS ask "there is already a file with same name, what should I do, etc etc"
- Now you can start your wallet and wait little to catch up the latest blocks since you downloaded the file. Depending on your connection speed, this waiting can take a few minutes to 1 hour.

@moonjeina OK I'm back, sorry. Yes, I'm using Windows.
