Miners need!! I Will Pay For The Reward Assignment.
-
ok in now, what limit do you want to keep the miners to, if any? I am planning on adding 3-5 TB a month to my miner, perhaps 6-10 depending if I have a good month with my day job :)
do not want to build up to 50TB then mess the rest of the pool up.
Also, how does everyone get a name instead of their burst coin address there? Being a noob I have not figured everything out yet. Just an storage freak, selling storage, for over 20 years so I decided to work with storage altcoin.
Thanks

@Terrambo I had the same reservation. I'm in for ~40TB and hoping i'm now skewing the payout too much. Certainly mining more the last 24h since I made the move from ninja, but I also mined 2 blocks for it... so that helped lol
-
@Terrambo no limit for the miners, The pool gets the name from your wallet. When you log into your wallet, on the left panel at the top. Where it shows your address, I think if you click that it'll let you set a name. :)
-
Thanks for the answers. Everything looks good so far. :) and my nme worked

noob question..... Can I plot more drives without stopping the mining on the other drives? Probably a bit slower I would guess but I do not know if you can do this in parallel. Common sense says that you probably can because it is two seperate processes, but I don't want to screw up my 2TB Plot by plotting a new drive and mining at the same time when I add the next 2TB
Thanks
-
@Terrambo yes you can!
-
I tried it and it keeps giving me an error, I did not jump out of the pool. I just keep gettign errors. I don't know if it was due to the upgrade to 0.3.8.1 or if it is due to me plotting right now. Anyway.... my 2 TB is at 26% right now after 3 hours, have to use my CPU to plot, am not smart enough to get the stupid GPUs working. May just put everything on my ubuntu machine and try and see how it works there tomorrow.
should be back in the pool by tomorrow evening. I pick up a new GPU just for burst mining tomorrow evening that I found on ebay from a guy that is local and gave up on mining.Perhaps there is someone here that can tell me what the following error I am getting means, could not find it in the forum:
JSON format error (offset 68) check miner.conf
Invalid value.
Press any key.....Then the terminal window just closes on me. I check the miner.conf and it seems ok to me, but like I said I am just a dumb old guy :D
Thanks

@Terrambo can you send me a screen shot of your config file I will take a look and see whats going on. Just sounds like something isn't in the right spot.
-
@gecox22 Sorry, don't know how to send the screen shot, so I just copy and paste. Sorry to the rest of you for the crap in the thread.
Right now D: and J: are my plots that were working, total of 2.5TB, I am currently adding another drive that is 2TB and it is plotting right now.

@Terrambo lose the comma on this line: "J:\plots",
-
@Terrambo this is what it should look like but with your plots
"Paths":["C:\Burst\plots","E:\Burst\plots","F:\Burst\plots"],

Thank you both. I copied your (@gecox22) config file, the newer one.
It now gives me the following error:
JSON format error (offset 240) check miner.conf
Invalid escape character in string. This is what the config file looks like

(the Config file has the double \ after the J: but for some reason it goes away when I post the copy and paste

@Terrambo The forums treat the \ as an escape character so 2 \ shows up as 1, 3 \ will show up as two, like: \\
On the Paths line you need: "Paths":["J:\\Burst\\plots"],

thanks again for the help everyone, one more question:
Can I take my plotted drives and move them to a new system without plotting again? I want to move everything to my ubuntu system, it works much more stable and I get a GPU for plotting today.
Just want to be sure before I move 5TB and have to replot.
PS.. Still unsuccessful with the mining, keeps giving me JSON errors :( perhaps the new install on ubuntu will take care of this. All problems started after the upgrade to 0.3.8.1 so I think I will use the last version because it ran with no problems.
-
@Terrambo You will have no problem putting your drives onto a new system.
-
Finally back into mining. Cleared the 0.3.8.1 off my computer, and went back to the 0.3.8 version that was working. Still don't know what was causing all the Java issues but at least I am mining again. Came across some great HDs today. I live in Germany but run a soccer academy for the American children living here. On the military posts they were selling the WD My Book (4TB, USB 3.0) for $109. Now that is a price I have not been able to find anywhere.
They had 25 of them so I will have to go shopping this week. Of course I will not buy all of them but one or two might be nice :D
-
Thanks for the payout :)
Just a quick question, is there anywhere to see how many TBs everyone is mining with? Just a research question for me, wondering what to expect if I drop $1090 in 40TB this week. Of course I do not expect to get rich quick :p but just would like to try and estimate what to expect.
thanks!
-
@Terrambo there is no way to see how many TB everybody is mining at, yet. I would estimate the pool size to be about 100 to 80 TB. Here's a calculator: http://burstcoin.biz/calculator I calculated with 40 TB you would find about a block a day! As long as you don't get a day you're not lucky, just to let you know there is no size limit on the pool. :)
-
@Tate-A Thanks, that is what I was hoping for with 40TB. Actually I am checking to see if I can get it cheaper before I just buy it. 10x 4TB USB 3 drives should do the job, just waiting on the graphics card to drop in price a bit then I will go over to GPU plotting and mining.
Thanks for the links!
