can we mine with any gb we have on our android mobile ?

Before I rush off and buy a memory card for my Samsung S7, can you confirm that you can select that diskspace from the Android App?
-
@YellowJacketA30 I'm mining 200GB on my Note 3 - card is definitely usable.
-
Sweet, thanks for the super quick and helpful response. Off to newegg to spend some bitcoin :-)
-
@haitch Thanks for all the help everyone.
I have a related question. The in app plotter doesn't seem to recognize any SD cards' space. If I add plots to the SD from my computer, will the app read them once the card is installed?
-
@k.coins Yes - I plotted my plots on my PC then copied them to the phone. Just make sure the plots are all exactly 1GB
-
@haitch That's great, thanks! Any suggestions on how to plot the device's internal drive outside of the app? If I have to use ADB or something dev tools, will I be able to control the starting nonce?
-
So it looks like I'll have some learning to do... I can't seem to get the desktop wallet plotter to plot less than 2 GB. And I also need to figure out how the stagger (in relation to the device's RAM?) and # of nonces will work with only 1 GB plots? I'm assuming this 1 GB plot limit is a requirement for the app to mine properly?
-
@haitch did you seriously make 200 individual plots manually?
-
@haitch Sorry about all these repetitive questions and posts... I'm learned a lot about plotting tonight trying to figure this out but probably should have dug into everything more before asking.
So here's where I'm at, I understand the process of correctly making one plot at a time on my desktop using the .bat file I found in the beginners videos. I understand that i can transfer them to the devices' memory (internal and external presumably) after I have plotted them. But now the question is, If I have to make many 1 GB plots in order to use the Android miner, is there an efficient way of automating this successive plotting?
-
I think I figured it out. Was able to get a few GBs plotted on my PC after finding where the plots were on the android file system, adjusting the nonces based on how my other devices were indexed and then dumping the pre-made plots back to the android's file.
Just thought I'd post an update so that no one tried to re-explain things
-
@k.coins yep - quick spreadsheet to calculate the nonces, turn it into a batch file, then let it run for an hour - 200 plots - copy them to the phone then off and mining.
-
Can the plots be added to internal storage? I seem to be running into a problem trying to do that now. The app's miner doesn't seem to recognize that I've added more plots internally.
-
@k.coins I've not tried, only on the SD Card.
-
@Propagandalf I am unable to stop the noise through any means on my Samsung S7 too. Admin, is thiz just a bug in the current version or am I missing something?
Thanks. Keep up the good work!

So the stagger should always be 1 for Android devices? Can we talk about why this is?
-
Thank you to Haitch for making my life easier. Here's answers to some questions that might have been skipped over.
- The Android app currently only looks for/stores plots in what is defined as the largest external space, in Android terms in CAN BE internal to your phone (onboard memory) external in Android world means outside of the base O/S and is storage for private Apps.
- The stagger size is plotted in 1's via the Android app today, it was the fastest way to get the plotter working without consuming tons of memory, it could be changed in the future if I write more code. Today when it mines the stagger size isn't even evaluated by the miner. Having said that I will probably modify the plotter to plot optimized by default in 1GB chunks using a "direct style" plotter by direct access methods. That will make the mining portion much faster by reading a single nonce to memory rather than 1024, 64 byte chunks that are separated by 1023 nonces.
- Version 2.1, in the works has 2 new "User Preferences"
- Disable Sound Effects During Mining
- Pool Selection (a much harder task)
Expect this release maybe in a month, give or take. Version 2.2 will be a performance update either using the method I mentioned or the conversion of the current JAVA code to NDK using ASM for speed, if I'm feeling spunky I might put it all together in a single release but that's rather optimistic.
Time for an afternoon coffee break,

@Propagandalf said in Android Mining Support:
Is it possible to change my account name twice? I can't seem to find the option.
Thanks for the answers so far, but I don't think this was answered.
-
@Propagandalf Not sure I understand the question - what are you trying to do ?
