HDD to Mining / Best ROI
-
Hi Guys,
I would like to buy a HDD on Amazon.com and I would like an advice to what is the best cost/benefity to buy? I would like more than 5Tb.
Thanks

@casadosprj What matters is the cost per Tb so the cheaper is the price per Tb, better is the ROI! xD
The best deal is in 5Tb drives right now i believe!

@gpedro yeah these 5tb prices are very good, everything beneath 30 dollars per TB (and good quality ofc) is a very very good price imo

Yes I have been finding in the UK that 5TB is the current sweet spot for TB/£ for a new drive. I have been buying the Toshiba Canvio 5TB USB3 for about £110 so that's about $27/TB. Would like to find something better but can't at the moment.

Toshiba Canvio 5TB USB3
RichBc .... What do you think about this one?
https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Expansion-Desktop-External-STEB5000100/dp/B00TKFEEBW/ref=sr_1_46?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1478619462&sr=1-46&keywords=portable+hard+drive+5tbThe big problem here is the hardware size. Its too bigger.

@casadosprj I heard that Seagate is not the most reliable but it's a good price. Either way i would advise WD or Toshiba because those are the two brands i have and i'm happy with it...

@casadosprj Looks fine to me, similar to my Canvio. Only thing you need to consider on any Multi Hard Drive solution is the cost of interfacing them to the PC and the overall transfer speed you will get?
Just plugging a whole load into a Hub means they have to share the bandwidth of a single USB channel.

@RichBC day late, but I've got a bunch of the Marshal 6TB drives - they're refurbished Toshibas, and have been rock solid for me. There are some refurbed 6TB Marshals here: Refurb Toshiba 6TB for $154 shipped. These are 7200RPM drives instead of the 5400 RPM 8TB Drives. And just to reiterate, the 8TB refurb drives I've got have been rock solid.

@haitch thank you for your advice!!!
And if we talk about a PC tower that have sapace for up to 7x 3.5 HDD. Here I can buy the internals HDD of 8Tb, 6Tb, 10Tb ... In an according of my budget.
Parallel of that I could still have the possibility to expand my capacity using the USB 3.0 ports with the external HDD.
With this in the future I will have the possibility can buy a GPU to plotting more fast ......
Is this a good strategy?
Comparing this idea (buy a PC tower), with the possibility of simply buying external Hds using the same USB port and sharing the bandwidth of a single USB channel like @RichBC said .... Whats is the best one?
I really decide to invest in this coin ... I just would like to know the best way to grow in a scalable way and protect my investment.
Thank you again!!!!
Best Regards

Ive been picking up drives on local auction sites every now and then for years now. Like 500GB to 3TB anywhere from $5 to $25. Ive got around 50+TB with the only problem now being is that I don't have enough computers to be able to power them all haha
